Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), the global leader for smart and sustainable buildings, today announced it has acquired Cool Solution, a prominent service provider of air conditioning and refrigeration within the UK and Ireland.
With offices in Cardiff and Tewksbury, the acquisition allows Johnson Controls to fill a geographic service gap in Wales and the South West. This will enable Johnson Controls’ HVAC team to service more customers, and ensure the company can better serve its existing customers with an even stronger install and service offering.
Enhancing Johnson Controls’ HVAC offering
Johnson Controls offers the largest portfolio of HVAC equipment and controls in the world. The integration of Cool Solution will enhance Johnson Controls’ HVAC offering across multiple customer segments, while also allowing the business to benefit from its design and project management capabilities.
Cool Solution designs, installs and maintains all types of comfort systems, covering ventilation, air conditioning, and heating. Its focus is on commercial buildings, fitting out offices, retailers, hotels and more to suit the needs of end users.
In addition, Cool Solution’s strength in supplying packaged air conditioning solutions to the office building retrofit market – including strong relationships with interior design and fit-out firms – will allow Johnson Controls to further diversify its portfolio of HVAC solutions.
“I am thrilled to welcome Cool Solution into the Johnson Controls family,” says Gail Hunter, General Manager of HVAC Solutions at Johnson Controls UK&I. “The team has created a strong business across Wales and the South West, and they will be an invaluable asset in helping to serve our nationwide customer base. Johnson Controls and Cool Solution will be stronger together, and our shared values will benefit both employees and customers alike.”
Business-as-usual for Cool Solution
Johnson Controls is committed to ensuring the Cool Solution brand continues to deliver the same high level of quality and support to its customers today as it did yesterday. For this reason, there will be no immediate changes to day-to-day operations of the business until both leadership teams formulate their medium and long-term plan. This will help to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of the customer experience.
The integration of Cool Solution will be an ongoing process as Johnson Controls begins to learn and understand the company’s culture, structure, processes and business. All 25 members of staff will continue working at the company in the same office locations, with Matt Williams and Steve Shilcock remaining at the helm to oversee the Cool Solution brand. In addition, Tony Williams will stay on with the business as a consultant in order to support a seamless integration.
“I am confident the integration of Cool Solution and Johnson Controls will be a benefit not only to customers, but to our teams too,” says Matt Williams, Managing Director of Cool Solution. “After 17 years growing the company into what it is today, it is hugely comforting to secure the continued success of the business. Thanks to our shared core values, I’m certain that the group has an amazing future ahead.”
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
