Home adaptation solutions provider, Jackson Lift Services Ltd, recently installed 15 stairlifts in a sheltered accommodation scheme in London, ensuring residents with limited mobility could continue to access their homes while the building’s elevator was being modernised – the most stairlifts the company has ever installed in one building.
With no working elevator in a 5-floor sheltered accommodation scheme, it was crucial that easy access to the upper floors was maintained for disabled residents.
Jackson Lift Services Ltd quickly came to the rescue with both a unique short-term fix and a long-term accessibility solution. By installing an impressive 15 Handicare stairlifts, the engineers were able to provide easy access for disabled residents with minimal disruption, as they also began work to modernise the elevator.
Jackson Lift Services Ltd engineers selected Handicare’s 1100 stairlift for this project due to its ease of installation, fast turn-around time and user-friendly design, making it an all-round viable, temporary solution.
Installing 15 stairlifts across every stairway in the building, the engineers worked tirelessly without the aid of an elevator and hauled heavy machinery, including seats, rails and powerpacks, up the entire complex on foot.
The installation of the temporary stairlifts took place alongside work on implementing the modernisation of the elevator. By not only installing, but also modernising the building’s accessibility offering, the engineers were able to successfully create a permanent solution, allowing residents to access their homes and communal facilities safely and securely, and continue with their daily lives without interruption.
Matthew Bailey at Jackson Lift Services Ltd, commented: “After communications with the facility managers, our engineers jumped on the job immediately to ensure that residents were able to access their homes without disruption or risk to their safety with the ideal temporary solution. The Handicare Straight 1100 stairlift was perfect for the job, as its slim design meant that it could be placed close to the walls to avoid disturbance to those using the stairs, and it was available to install quickly enough to fulfil the order.
“It was the most stairlifts we’ve ever been asked to install in one building, and we’re so pleased that we were able to provide residents with the ideal short-term solution from Handicare, whilst also modernising the elevator. Our customers always remain at the heart of our operations, and we’ll continue to identify the most appropriate solutions for their needs. ”
Handicare UK Trade Manager, Jason Skelding, said: “We were thrilled to hear that our partner, Jackson Lift Services Ltd, was efficient and committed in its response to the modernisation at the sheltered accommodation. The team’s hard work and dedication is a true testament to the commitment demonstrated throughout our industry.
“Our installability and user-friendly product design made the 1100 stairlift the perfect choice for this solution, and we’re proud to have been the first port of call for Jackson Lift Services Ltd on this project. We’re dedicated to making everyday life easier for our partners and their customers, and the 1100 stairlift has done just that for Jackson Lift Services Ltd and for the residents of this building.”
