BRAC Projects, the specialist fabrication company that provides turnkey design and furniture fabrication services across both the private and public sectors, has completed a comprehensive fit-out to 16 laboratories at Science Creates’ latest incubator facility.
Built with a focus on enabling scientists to turn in to entrepreneurs, Science Creates’ latest incubator facility located at Old Market in Bristol City Centre is part of the team’s vision to establish Bristol as a global centre for deep tech expertise.
The building which houses the incubator facility is a former stationery wholesale warehouse retrofitted to provide laboratories, offices, and a community outreach ‘learning lab’. BRAC Projects’ role in the transformation was focused on the manufacture, supply and installation of laboratory-grade worktops, benches, and other furniture across a range of laboratory sizes and configurations.
Graeme Bartholomew, Operations Manager at BRAC Projects, comments:
“We have been honoured to work on such a prestigious project that will truly make a difference to the science community in Bristol.
“Our experience working over a wide-range of diverse projects in commercial buildings, education settings and healthcare locations – amongst many others – equips us with a broad view of how to deliver the furniture that genuinely meets the needs of each client that we work for. This was no less the case at Science Creates where we’ve delivered across a range of differing laboratory sizes and tailored the products and fit accordingly.”
Project Management and Surveying was overseen by Quartz Project Services which engaged BRAC to deliver on the fit-out at the facility. Martyn Murphy, Project Surveyor, comments:
“When working on a project where there are multiple partners involved, it is imperative to have absolute trust in every moving part.
“The team at BRAC Projects necessarily came in towards the end of the work at Science Creates and it was reassuring to see the team respond with a nimble and agile approach to the site conditions around them. The quality of both the team’s work and the products that they’ve installed meet in every way the requirements of such an important project.”
Science Creates’ incubator opened at the end of 2021 and has already welcomed its first tenant.
