Revamping Glamping ahead of booming staycation season

Coastal caravan park gets glamping revamp to bring North Wales tourists ‘closer to nature’

A CONWY-based holiday park aims to diversify the Great British Summer Holiday following a luxury glamping ‘revamp’ and significant reinvestment this season.

Tan y Bryn Glamping, in Llandudno Junction, now boasts five luxury glamping pods alongside five new hardstanding Motorhome pitches.

Located on a small working farm in Bryn Pydew, Tan Y Bryn has been offering breaks to guests from the North West since the 1970’s.

Owners Jenny and Darren Jarvis said the revamp is their way of maintaining North Wales’s status as ‘one of the most beautiful and sought-after holiday destinations in the UK.’

The recent redevelopment saw an excess of £300,000 targeted towards glamping getaways, which involves ‘glamorous camping’ in luxuriously reimagined rustic outdoor-style accommodation.

Jenny Jarvis said: “We’re thrilled to launch or new luxury glamping pods on Good Friday. It really does mark the dawn of a new era, and it means so much to us to be able to showcase just how stunning North Wales is as a location destination.

“It fills us with so much joy and pride to see lots of tourists back already, making the most of the coast. Interestingly, this year has seen more of an increase in couples who are looking for a special romantic retreat on the coast – with a bit of luxury, of course!

“For us, these luxury glamping pods mark the beginning of another fantastic summer. We can’t deny the impact that Covid has had on the tourism sector nationwide, but our goal now is to move forward, keep our guests at the forefront of everything we do, and take what learnings we can in terms of holiday trends and what’s important to our customers, and implement those changes.”

The dedicated duo, who took over the caravan park in 2019, said their primary goal was to make guests feel relaxed, while offering a unique ‘luxury element’ to the outdoor camping experience.

Darren explained: “Our investment in Tan Y Bryn is about enhancing tourism for the North Wales area, bringing our visitors closer to nature, and helping them enjoy the incredible countryside and surrounding attractions.

“We are hoping for a busy summer, with many of our existing customers trying out our new amenities such as the brand-new shared shower and kitchen facilities that our motorhome guests use.

“But we wanted to go beyond that, and provide what our guests wanted to an extremely high and special standard – private facilities, due to concerns that were brought to the forefront during the pandemic.

“This is why it was crucial for us to ensure that each luxury glamping pod was fitted with its own bathroom, kitchen facilities, TV, sofa bed, outside hot tub and fire pit, which really creates that sense of an ‘exclusive’ glamping experience.

“We also feel that lockdown has shown us that we need to provide private facilities to ensure the business can remain open in case of any future pandemics, and provide people with an escape during stressful times. So, we not only feel that our luxury glamping pods are in-line with current market trends, but are fool-proof for future ones.”

The boom in staycations – and especially luxury glamping – will also see a spike in employment, with recruitment within the local area on the cards as the company expands year on year.

Jenny said: “We are always looking to recruit locally, whether that’s for housekeeping roles, maintenance for the park, or even hospitality roles. We’re proud to have used local suppliers where we could for the revamp, and continue to work alongside local providers with our Easter welcome baskets, which every guest over Easter weekend will receive.”
