5 ways to stay fit with a busy lifestyle

Working all week can be tough and when you want to be healthy at the same time, it can feel near on impossible to stay on top of your game. However, there are options out there for you to stay on top of your health when work life can dominate.

1. Start an after-work sports team

Your place of work might have lots of people who have the same interests as you such as the same music taste, enjoying using the same betting apps for iOS and Android or even the same sense of humour as you. However, they will more than likely have the same sports interest as you.

It is very common for colleagues to get together after work to either join in a run together as part of a small club or even play football 5 aside. It is a great way to burn off that tiredness from the day alongside people who are very much in the same boat as you.

2. Avoid alcohol

It can be hard when you are in the 9-5 routine and someone suggests an after-work mid-week pint, it can be hard to say no. However, it can have detrimental effects on your health even just the odd drink to relax after work.

Kicking the alcohol for prolonged periods or cutting down on your intake can help you feel better, work more productively and experience life differently.

3. Use parkrun as a tool

One of the best free running events is parkrun and a great way to properly start the weekend. On a Saturday morning around the country (in fact the world) but it can really set you up for the weekend ahead with friends, family or just some you time after a busy week at work.

This helps with step 2 as on the Friday night you are not tempted to go over the top knowing you have a run at 9 am in the morning (9:30 in Scotland)

4. Plan your meals

This might seem like a simple one but it can be far too easy to not know what you are having for your meals throughout the day and if that is the case then you are left in the lurch. If you do not have an idea of what your lunch is then you look for something quick when you are busy and the likes of Greggs can be very appealing but not the healthiest option at all.

The same can be said when you are tired looking for your evening meal. A takeaway or a quick pizza from the supermarket can be more appealing than scratching the cupboards for something to cook.

5. Stay moving at work

With a lot of jobs in the country meaning, you are sitting behind your desk for long hours, it is important to stay as active as possible.

Take the stairs instead of the lift, go for a walk at lunch, cycle to work and many more options will help you stay on top of your health.
