Local taxi firm helps surprise Ukrainian family

Go Carz, Shropshire’s leading taxi and private hire vehicle firm, is supporting a driver-partner’s efforts to cover transport costs to send a Ukrainian family on holiday.

Gareth Cadwallader has been a driver-partner with Go Carz for seven years, and his friends David and Tracey Lewis recently sponsored a mother and daughter who have fled from the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

Tracey organised a holiday for the mother and daughter to visit Great Yarmouth for a long weekend but struggled with the transport, which is where Gareth stepped in.

The driver-partner offered his services free of charge and approached Go Carz to see if they would support him by covering half the cost of the journey.

Gareth said: “David and Tracey have done so much by taking the family in, letting them live in a flat adjacent to their home and organising schooling for the child amongst daily support helping them settle into the community.

“After all the mother and daughter have been through, with their father and husband still in Ukraine, they truly deserve a break and I applaud Tracey for supporting them through this incredibly tough time.

“I just wanted to do my bit, and when Tracey told me about the transport struggles she faced when organising the holiday for them, I knew I could help. Having partnered with Go Carz for so long, I know how strongly they feel about contributing to local causes and supporting the community, so I correctly suspected they would be more than willing to contribute. I hope the family have a lovely holiday and look forward to hearing all about it on the way home!”
