With rich and complete industrial chains, Jilin is a major pharmaceutical province in China. Currently, Jilin is vigorously developing biological drugs, chemical drugs, traditional Chinese medicine and Healthcare industries, and making every effort to build the north China medicine base. Under China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative, Jilin Province, located in the geographic center of Northeast Asia, is also an important window for China to open up to the north. Therefore, the pharmaceutical industry in Jilin has embraced broader overseas markets.
Government officials, experts and scholars in medicine and health fields attended the opening ceremony, including Wu Zhengping, Director General of Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, Li Qingchen, president of the CCPIT Jilin Provincial Committee, Mugisha Fred, Charge de Affaires a.i. of the Uganda Embassy in China; Ahmed Zaki, commercial plenipotentiary of the Egyptian Embassy in China, Bilal Kheroufi, counsellor of the Algerian Embassy in China, Marta Remjio Rial Abshak, counsellor of the South Sudan Embassy in China, and Kuanysh Amantay, general representative of Kazakh Invest National Company. In addition, 52 well-known enterprises from Jilin Province in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine health, healthcare, biological science, medical equipment and instruments participated in the fair.
Director General of Trade Development Bureau Wu Zhengping said under the circumstances of COVID-19 pandemic, it is the common wish of pharmaceutical enterprises to strengthen international healthcare cooperation, unimpeded the trade of medicines, medical apparatus and instruments. Therefore, we need to cope with challenges jointly and share development opportunities. in order to enhance high-quality developments in the pharmaceutical industry. Director General Wu expressed the hope that this fair could build online and offline platforms for pharmaceutical enterprises at home and abroad to unfold advantages and exchange ideas to promote in-depth communication, strengthen practical cooperation, and achieve mutual benefits among pharmaceutical enterprises.
In Li Qingchen’s speech at the opening ceremony, he said this fair aimed to provide a new multinational cooperation platform for Chinese and foreign pharmaceutical enterprises and strengthen cooperation in the medicine field in Jilin province and the related countries. Meanwhile, he also hoped that Jilin province could be better understood by foreign enterprises, thus facilitating more cooperation and achieving a win-win outcome.
At the fair, the CCPIT Jilin Provincial Committee signed an MOU with Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Three biomedical enterprises in Jilin province signed cooperation agreements with enterprises from Egypt, the UK and Poland. Several transnational cooperation agreements were well underway. Statistics indicated that there were more than 150 offline guests and 69 overseas exhibitors from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Tunisia and other countries and regions in the Middle East, West Asia and North Africa. A large number of Chinese and foreign enterprises conducted one-on-one consultation and coordination online, facilitating the signing of several projects. Nearly 250,000 people attended the fair online, including more than 15,000 people from overseas channels.
