‘Brilliant’ Leeds children’s charity lands partnership with FTSE 100-listed HomeServe

Leeds-based HomeServe Installations has launched a new partnership with a local charity providing unforgettable experiences for disadvantaged children.

The move to appoint Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm as a regional charity partner is part of HomeServe UK’s company-wide ‘Home is Where the Heart is’ campaign.

Staff at the leading home assistance business’ Leeds-based office, most of whom are from the region, chose Lineham Farm after supporting its Christmas gift appeal throughout COVID. They said the ethos of the charity really resonated with them.

Since COVID, ten team members have volunteered at the farm, carrying out gardening and general maintenance as well as discussing future opportunities for support.

Moving forward, the partnership will involve further volunteering and other forms of support, including donations.

Emily Sehmar-Bee, Customer Relations & Office Manager at HomeServeInstallations, said: “We have been involved with Lineham Farm for a few years, supporting them during COVID through their children’s gifts appeal. It’s such a brilliant cause, and one close to the hearts of our staff in Leeds, so it’s a great feeling to launch this partnership.

“We intend to continue the support via the Children’s Christmas Gift Appeal and widen this to providing quarterly donations of things like toiletries and household items that people struggle to afford, such as washing powder.”

Lineham Farm supports the most challenged and disadvantaged children across Leeds, by offering respite, support and learning experiences.

Set within 120 acres of land, including farmland, woodlands, gardens and a farmhouse, it helps over 2,500 young people each year, offering breaks of up to a week.

Once on site, children take part in activities such as animal and environmental care, orienteering, archery, climbing and team games.

Jenny Jones, Fundraising Manager at Leeds Children’s Charity at LinehamFarm, said: “Support from our local businesses is vital to help us continue our valuable work, and we’re so grateful to HomeServe for their continued support and helping to give back to their local community.

“A break at Lineham Farm is filled with adventure, fun and learning in a safe and happy environment – it’s childhood as it should be! In allowing young people to take time away from difficult circumstances, it enables them to spend time with their peers and this undoubtably helps them to grow into successful adults.”

The move comes as part of HomeServe UK’s wider Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, launched earlier this year.

The ‘Home Is Where the Heart is’ campaign allows staff at its regional offices to choose a local charity to support, with other announcements to follow for the firm’s sites in Walsall, Preston and Nottingham.
