Netcompany Enables Westminster City Council to Put Residents’ Needs at the Heart of its Services
Enabling residents to gain access to local council services in an instant by downloading a digital card to their smartphone, part of Westminster City Council’s latest Smart City for All initiative
Netcompany, an international IT services company solving complex societal issues, today announced that it has successfully developed and delivered the MyWestminster digital card, part of Westminster City Council’s latest Smart City for All initiative. Sitting within the City of Westminster online portal, this new digital card enables residents to access public services and cultural activities simply and conveniently. Now residents no longer have to wait for a physical access card to be printed and posted to them, they simply sign into their account via their smartphone and add their digital membership card to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay in a matter of minutes.
Westminster City Council is the local authority representing the City of Westminster in Greater London. Currently on the path of digital transformation, the council seeks to establish itself as a truly Smart City, looking to digitise how residents access core services and cultural activities via its City Save initiative. Not only is a digital card more convenient for residents and more cost effective for the council, it supports Westminster’s ambition to be carbon-free by 2040, as part of its Greener City initiative.
Sarah Williams, Head of Customer Experience and Digital, Westminster City Council, comments: “Netcompany has a strong track record in delivering technologies that are helping to meet critical societal needs. Already we have witnessed an outstanding uptake of the MyWestminster digital card and services because we have made the process so simple and convenient to access. This enables us to meet our goal of putting the needs and interests of our residents at the heart of how our services are developed.”
Richard Davis, UK Country Manager Partner at Netcompany adds: “Speed, security, convenience, and ease of use were critical elements in this project. Initiatives like this are redefining the concept of public sector services and simultaneously solving the resource and efficiency challenges that most local authorities face today. Westminster City Council has shown how it is looking to take transformation to the next level for its constituents.”
