Something for all ages at Bank Holiday Model Railway Exhibition in Machynlleth
Corris Railway Society’s annual Model Railway Exhibition in Machynlleth will take place on August Bank Holiday Weekend.
Staged by the at Y Plas, this year’s show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25, with organiser Bill Newton aiming to including something for all ages.
A Brio trains layout will offer a hands-on experience, while at the other end of the age range, older visitors will be able to enjoy some nostalgia looking at a layout featuring items from the great days of the O gauge Hornby tinplate marque.
There will also be models depicting aspects of narrow gauge railways in miniature form. These range from the most popular scale, 009, through to large 16mm models. Look out for the 009 set-up using a toilet bowl to mount the track. Other layouts will represent standard gauge railways, modelled in N, 00 and O scales.
Kate Packham returns from South Devon with her jewellery and decorative items made from recycled glass and Ian Cross will be selling second-hand railway books at bargain prices. Other vendors will be offering railwayana and models old and new.
Profits from the exhibition help with the revival of Corris Railway and trains will be running from Corris station on both days, leaving at 11am, 12 noon, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Light refreshments will be available at the show and there is parking close to Y Plas. The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4.30pm each day with admission £4 for adults and £2 for children.
