Noctil expands metadata capabilities to support DDEX RDR 1.5 standard

Noctil, a no-code metadata platform, has expanded its capabilities to support the DDEX RDR 1.5 standard. This addition further strengthens Noctil’s commitment to delivering comprehensive and efficient metadata management solutions for the music and audiovisual industries.

The DDEX RDR standard is a crucial tool for streamlining the exchange of metadata related to sound recordings, music videos, and performers. By adopting this standard, Noctil is helping to address the significant challenges faced by record labels and other industry stakeholders in managing and exchanging metadata.

The DDEX Recording Data and Rights (RDR) standard was developed by the Digital Data Exchange (DDEX), a non-profit organization dedicated to streamlining data exchange within the music industry. RDR specifically focuses on sound recordings, music videos, and performers, ensuring clear communication regarding rights and usage data. This standardization significantly reduces the complexities faced by record labels and licensing companies when exchanging information.

The industry is witnessing a growing shift towards a unified data exchange system, which is crucial for ensuring accurate royalty payments and efficient rights management throughout the creative industry. Building upon DDEX RDR, the RDx service, co-developed by IFPI and WIN, acts as a central hub for exchanging data in the standardized RDR format.

By adopting DDEX RDR support, Noctil helps its clients navigate this evolving landscape and reap the benefits of standardized metadata management.

Jacob Varghese, Founder & Director, Noctil, said: “This standard is essential for ensuring accurate and timely royalty payments and facilitating efficient data exchange within the music and audiovisual industries. Our goal is to simplify the metadata exchange and collaboration process for our clients and help them achieve greater efficiency and accuracy.”

Noctil’s all-in-one metadata software offers a comprehensive suite of features, including ingesting metadata from any sources and formats, transforming metadata into the right format, streamlining workflows and processes, and exporting metadata in the industry standard format.

This follows the announcement of Canada’s ACTRA Recording Artists’ Collecting Society (ACTRA RACS) teaming up with Noctil to streamline the ingestion and processing of the organisation’s artist and sound recording metadata.
