Swansea Council Welcomes TEDxSwansea to Brangwyn Hall
Across the world, independently organised Tedx events are known for high quality speakers, original “ideas worth spreading” and engaging their local communities – and the community and Swansea council are firmly behind this exceptional event.
TEDxSwansea, last in the city in 2018, returns this 5th June with a fantastic line up of speakers at the Brangwyn Hall Venue, kindly sponsored by Swansea Council with the support of Venue Manager, Tracey Ellicot who has ensured the event can also be streamed live across the globe.
TEDxSwansea Media Sponsor Tim Hughes of Behind the Lens said:
“I was thrilled by the support of the Council facilitating my drone flight paths which allowed us to showcase the beauty of Swansea on the event Trailer.”
This year’s event aptly named “The Big Reveal” will be hosted by Swansea Talk Show Host, Patience Bentu.
Patience’s engagement with television presentation and the Media has immeasurably provided her with the required exposure. Her television appearances include NTAi Nigeria, BBC and ITV Wales. Now the host of her own show PayTalks, she is more than ready to kick start this new series of TEDxSwansea events, which represent an excellent opportunity to again highlight Swansea as a world-class place to do business, and comes at the right time, with City Deal, a new arena and major construction projects taking place across the City.

TedXSwansea Curator Mark Davies has his own business success story. Following a successful construction career and running a chain of award-winning restaurants, and now Head of Commercial for a networking Franchise, Mark has seen for himself the talent within the region. This inspired him to work with TEDxSwansea, creating opportunities for the thriving business community here in South West Wales. Mark explains:
“Swansea has so much to offer, we have an abundance of tech talent, some of the most forward-thinking investors and entrepreneurs in Wales and a networking powerhouse, built on co-operation and with the full support of a business-minded council.”
Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea Council added:
“The last TEDxSwansea event was fantastic and the Council are proud to once again welcome world-class speakers to an excellent venue in our burgeoning City by the Sea.
“Now is the right time for investors to seize the moment. As a council, we are committed to supporting businesses across the region – and with good commuting links, Gower’s stunning scenery on the doorstep and a wealth of business opportunities, Swansea has it all.”
