Toyota has made the first deliveries of vehicles to support the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, as the worldwide mobility partner of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee.  This marks the company’s commitment to making Paris 2024 a showcase of inclusive and sustainable mobility; this includes ensuring that athletes, stakeholders, staff, volunteers and spectators can move around safely during the Games, with reduced environmental impact.

The Paris 2024 fleet key handover ceremony took place on 1 March against the backdrop of the Paris 2024 HQ (Pulse building), in the presence of Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024, Yoshihiro Nakata, President and CEO Toyota Motor Europe, Frank Marotte, CEO of Toyota France and Didier Gambart, President KINTO Europe.

This symbolic event marked the collaboration between Toyota and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, and included the unveiling of the specially designed application of the Paris 2024 visual identity, highlighting Toyota’s multi-path strategy to carbon neutrality, with each vehicle technology present at the Games identifiable by dedicated colours.

In total Toyota will provide a passenger vehicle fleet of more than 2,650 electrified vehicles and 700 electric last-mile mobility solutions. Among these solutions are 250 Accessible People Movers (APMs), redesigned for Paris 2024, and manufactured in Europe.

Toyota’s visual identity at Paris 2024

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, all Toyota vehicles, including the electrified fleet and advanced mobility solutions, will adopt a specially designed Paris 2024 visual identity, highlighting the strong partnership between Toyota and the Games. The design will emphasise Toyota’s multi-path strategy to carbon neutrality, where each of the technologies, present at the Games, will be identifiable through dedicated colours.

Jaime Noriega, Technical Manager Styling Division Toyota Motor Europe said: “The designs for the Paris 2024 car fleet were created using graphic elements directly from the Look of the Games (gradients, stripes, dots, iconic landmarks, all reminiscent of French cultures and ‘art de vivre’). This creates a strong visual connection between the Games and Games activities on and off the playing fields. We emphasised the dynamism of the vehicles with a sleek design including glossy banners and matt trademarks. Finally, we carefully chose the colours for each of the technologies, in line with our multi-path strategy. We selected the blue colour for the fuel cell hydrogen vehicles (blue represents the colour of water, the only emission emitted by the vehicle tailpipe), green for the battery electric vehicles (green represents nature signifying the zero tailpipe emissions of BEVs), while purple was chosen for the hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, as the third colour of the Paris 2024 competition sites.”

Multi-path strategy demonstrating commitment to carbon neutrality

Sustainability is a significant part of Toyota’s commitment to building a better world, underlined by its Environmental Challenge 2050. By 2050 the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality at a global level – in Europe by 2040.

Yoshihiro Nakata, President and CEO Toyota Motor Europe said: “At Toyota, we are delighted to embark on this journey with Paris 2024, exemplifying our commitment to pioneering sustainable mobility solutions. Our multi-path approach to reduce carbon emissions is at the core of the Toyota fleet that will be made available to the Olympic and Paralympic family at Paris 2024. Toyota will bring a 100 per cent electrified passenger vehicle fleet to Paris, in line with our commitment to reduce carbon emissions.”

Paris 2024 employees experience professional mobility with KINTO car sharing

In addition to providing the official fleet vehicles for Paris 2024, the Organising Committee employees have been experiencing Toyota’s KINTO Share car sharing service since September 2023. This flexible mobility service supports their professional needs during the preparations for the Games, especially when travelling to more distant event venues that are not easily accessible by public transport.

The KINTO Share fleet exemplifies inclusivity and accessibility. Already, the high utilisation rates and positive feedback received from Paris 2024 employees highlight the effectiveness and value of the KINTO Share service for the Organising Committee.

Providing Mobility for All solutions

Toyota has also delivered the first units of the C+Walk S to Paris 2024 employees with disabilities, enabling them to move freely inside the Pulse building. This is a first taste of the 700 units Toyota will deliver for athletes, staff and spectators to support Mobility for All during the Games.

Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024 said: “Working with Toyota as the global mobility partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 enables us to act towards a more accessible and inclusive mobility, and a more responsible one too, as we focus on our goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in every aspect of the Paris 2024 Games. Providing the Toyota KINTO car sharing services for our employees is an integral part of supporting our sustainability goals. It enables our employees to move around more sustainably and safely during the preparations for the Games, setting a high standard for mobility excellence during the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. Moreover, providing inclusive last mile solutions for our staff with disabilities, like the C+Walk, exemplifies Toyota’s commitment to Mobility for All. I want to thank Toyota for their commitment to share and bring our ambitions to life.”

Leeading Consumer Rights Group Issues Call for Action Following Airport Blaze

A CONSUMER rights group has contacted Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service after it emerged a blaze they responded to at Luton Airport may have been caused by a car fire.

Right Against Might also urged motorists to get in touch if they are concerned their vehicle may have a fault that constitutes a fire risk.

Their call to action follows a fire in a car park at Luton Airport on Tuesday which caused a partial collapse of the £20 million structure – and the expected loss of the 1405 vehicles parked there.

The founder of RAM, advertising executive Chris Joseph, said he fears it could be a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or killed unless manufacturers issue recall notices.

Mr Joseph has extensive experience in this area having recently supported a motorist who won a settlement after his own car exploded.

He said: “It’s extraordinary that in this day and age cars are exploding but what’s more extraordinary is that people are then running around not dealing with it properly.

“That’s why I’ve written to the chief fire officer of Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to offer our assistance in any way we can.

“Right Against Might has expertise in this area as we reached a confidential settlement for one of our clients after an independent review of the burned-out wreckage of his car found that a manufacturer’s fault was to blame.

“I would urgently appeal to motorists who have experienced an unexpected car fire to come forward and we will help you get justice if a design fault is to blame.”

Right Against Might (RAM) is a group that has been set up to hold the biggest businesses and organisations to account on behalf of “underdog consumers”.

Using a unique approach, the company aims to secure “swift justice” without resorting to legal action for thousands of people across the UK with nowhere else to turn.

RAM acted for a businessman whose car caught fire as his son-in-law was driving on the A1(M).

He was able to escape before the flames completely engulfed the vehicle and it exploded, but was left traumatised by the experience.

Chris, from Stockton-on-Tees, is also a bestselling author and mental health campaigner, and has successfully challenged several multinational companies in the High Court in London. He has also taken on and beaten the banking industry.

His trailblazing work established the legal precedent by which all creative agencies now retain copyright in their pitch work.

Reasons to Lease Your Next Company Vehicle

As a business owner, making decisions that optimize your company’s operations and image is crucial. When it comes to acquiring company vehicles, the choice between leasing and buying can significantly impact your bottom line and overall business perception. In this blog post, we’ll explore the compelling reasons why considering a lease for your next company vehicle might be a savvy move.

Access to the Latest Vehicles and Technology

In the ever-evolving landscape of automotive technology, staying up-to-date with the latest vehicles and features is essential. Leasing allows you to do just that. With rapid advancements in electric and autonomous vehicle technologies, having the newest models at your disposal can give your business a modern and innovative image.

Imagine pulling up to client meetings or networking events in a state-of-the-art vehicle equipped with cutting-edge features that showcase your commitment to staying ahead in your industry. For instance, electric vehicle enthusiasts might explore the realm of tesla lease deals, enabling them to present not only an environmentally conscious image but also an embrace of groundbreaking automotive technology.

Cost Efficiency and Predictability

Leasing a company vehicle often requires a lower upfront cost compared to purchasing one outright. This initial cost advantage can be significant for small and medium-sized businesses looking to allocate their resources efficiently. Additionally, leasing provides predictability in monthly expenses, as the lease terms typically cover maintenance and repair costs, reducing the potential for unexpected financial burdens. This stability allows you to allocate your budget more accurately and focus on your core business activities without worrying about fluctuating vehicle-related expenses.

Tax Advantages

Leasing your company vehicle might also lead to substantial tax benefits. In many regions, lease payments can be fully or partially deducted as business expenses, potentially lowering your taxable income. Additionally, when you lease a vehicle, you’re essentially paying for the depreciation that occurs during the lease term, rather than the entire vehicle cost. This can result in more favourable tax treatment compared to purchasing, where you would need to account for the entire purchase price. It’s important to consult with a tax professional to understand the specific tax advantages available in your jurisdiction.

Flexibility and Upgrading

Business needs can change over time, and leasing offers a level of flexibility that buying simply can’t match. Leases typically have shorter terms than traditional vehicle loans, often ranging from two to three years. This means that you have the opportunity to reassess your vehicle needs relatively frequently. If your business expands, you might require larger vehicles, or if your focus shifts, you might want to embrace newer technologies. Leasing enables you to adjust your fleet to match your evolving requirements without the constraints of long-term ownership.

Reduced Depreciation Risk

One of the most significant drawbacks of vehicle ownership is the rapid depreciation that occurs once you drive a new vehicle off the lot. However, with a lease, you’re not burdened with the long-term depreciation risk. Once the lease term ends, you can simply return the vehicle and explore the latest models without worrying about the resale value of an owned vehicle. This can be particularly advantageous if you’re in an industry where maintaining a fresh and updated image is crucial.

Maintenance Benefits

Leasing a company vehicle often comes with maintenance packages that cover routine servicing and repairs. This can relieve you of the responsibilities and costs associated with regular maintenance, allowing you to focus on your business operations. Well-maintained vehicles also contribute to a more positive perception of your company, as clients and partners will notice the care you put into your assets.

In conclusion, leasing your next company vehicle offers a range of compelling benefits that can positively impact both your business operations and image. The ability to access the latest vehicles and technology, combined with cost efficiency, tax advantages, flexibility, reduced depreciation risk, and maintenance benefits, make leasing an attractive option for business owners.

By embracing leasing, you not only enhance your company’s image but also position yourself to navigate the dynamic landscape of automotive innovation with ease. So, as you consider your next company vehicle, be sure to weigh the advantages of leasing against traditional ownership – the difference might just drive your business forward in unexpected ways.

Success Comes at a Price for Ineos’ Grenadier 4×4

Ineos, the British chemicals and automotive company, has been forced to take drastic action after buyers began to hawk their Grenadier 4×4 vehicle at mammoth resale prices amid production delays.

Those seeking to buy a brand-new Grenadier straight from the manufacturer will have to wait a staggering 12 months for delivery – and stump up £65,000 for the privilege.

And that has given rise to an opportunity for shrewd operators to thrive…

Who are Ineos?

Founded by billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Ineos is a British company that owns a huge slice of the global chemicals industry.

They have since diversified into other areas including automotive retail, while the brand also lends its name to a cycling team that contests the annual Grand Tours.
Ineos hasn’t quite had as much success as its predecessor, Team Sky, who won the Tour de France five times between 2012 and 2018. The cycling odds give Ineos riders an outside chance to win the gruelling French race, with more familiar names like Jonas Vingegaard instead favoured in the Tour de France betting.

https://twitter.com/j_vingegaard/status/1551593913575669765

It’s the firm’s Grenadier 4×4, which has been championed by the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, that has generated most of the column inches for the company of late. Considered an alternative to Land Rover and similar-sized vehicles, popularity has boomed – at a cost to would-be buyers.

So some have bitten the bullet and instead purchased a ‘nearly new’ model from a reseller, who have bought up stock from independent dealers with low delivery mileage.
An Ineos spokesperson has confirmed that they will limit the supply of new Grenadiers to retailers that adopt a similar resale strategy, with orders already cancelled where it was found that the buyer had the sole aim of immediately listing their vehicle for sale upon delivery for a handsome mark-up.

It’s another source of frustration for motorists, with the sale price of used cars increasing by an average of £4,000 since 2020.

Who is Jim Ratcliffe?

Billionaires don’t have to worry about such things as second-hand cars – they don’t come much richer in the UK than Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Having made his money via his Ineos chemicals firm and its many subsidiaries, Ratcliffe has diversified his portfolio into automotive and sport.
As well as the Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, he is the majority shareholder in the French football club Nice, although he is yet to experience the kind of success there that his investment – bringing in the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Ross Barkley – might have warranted.

So Ratcliffe has a new target in his crosshairs: Manchester United. Although his is a sporting interest given that he grew up supporting the Old Trafford club, a shrewd businessman like Ratcliffe will know that United, as a publicly listed and globally popular concern, also offer the potential for huge profits. Indeed, they posted revenue of around £540 million in 2022 alone.

Whether he can bring them more success on the pitch remains to be seen, but Ratcliffe’s returns in petrochemicals and automobiles suggest he knows how to get the very best out of his investments.

Lexus LC Ultimate Edition: the last word in exclusivity

In 2012, Lexus caused a sensation with the unveiling of its LF-LC concept at the Detroit motor show, its vision for a radical new flagship coupe. Four years later, the concept became reality with an almost unchanged design for the production-ready LC. Now that model’s award-winning history reaches its pinnacle with the new LC 500 Ultimate Edition.

This special version of the LC 500 Coupe and Convertible will be available in strictly limited numbers worldwide – each model’s status recorded on an individually numbered plaque mounted on the centre console.

The stand-out feature of the Ultimate Edition is its dedicated Hakugin White paintwork, which has an elegant matt finish. This strikes a sharp contrast with black detailing around the muscular bodywork, including the grille, door mirrors headlamp surrounds and exhaust baffle, and the 21-inch, five-spoked forged alloy wheels. This strong look draws heritage parallels with Lexus’s past coupe master, the LFA supercar.

The interior also has an exclusive finish with upholstery in a deep Kachi-Blue. Luxurious semi-aniline leather is featured in the Coupe and a combination of suede-like Alcantara and leather in the Convertible.

The Ultimate Edition’s special qualities are not limited to styling. The car’s aerodynamic performance has been honed with the world-first integration of airflow-controlling canard fins in the front bumper moulding. On the Coupe, the aero management package includes an auto-deploying black carbon rear wing. The wing’s shape was defined with input from the world of competition flying through Lexus’s support of aerobatic and race pilot Yoshihide Muroya and his team.

Lexus’s Takumi master technicians were recruited to tune the V8 engine for smoother rotation and the rear differential for even sharper acceleration response. Both LC 500 Coupe and Convertible use a 457bhp powerplant, with a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission.

The Ultimate Edition’s equipment specification matches the top LC Sport Pack+ with the addition of a colour head-up display, Panoramic View Monitor and 13-speaker Mark Levinson Reference Audio system, plus “Limited Edition” Lexus scuff plates.

Production of the Ultimate Edition will commence in September. For UK customers, fewer than 10 examples will be available, priced £116,000 for the Coupe and £122,000 for the Convertible.
