Culture15 shortlisted for InfoWorld’s 2024 Technology of the Year Awards

Culture measurement platform, Culture15, has been shortlisted as a finalist for InfoWorld’s 2024 Technology of the Year Awards.

Launched in 2001, InfoWorld awards recognise the most groundbreaking products in information technology, rewarding companies that change the way businesses and people operate. Offering multiple award categories, the awards are each designed to celebrate the world’s most innovative products across cloud computing, data management, dev-ops, AI and machine learning.

Enhanced with AI capabilities, Culture15’s SaaS platform has been shortlisted for the Business Intelligence and Analytics category, alongside two additional finalists.

This latest announcement marks a period of significant growth for Culture15, spurred on by the launch of its innovative new AI feature, which enables organisations to turn spoken or written qualitative feedback – in any one of 26 languages – into culture analytics, providing actionable insight into the collective behaviours that show up in how work gets done.

One of the factors the judges particularly recognised is that Culture15’s culture analytics dashboard allows companies to gain total clarity of their current culture for the first time ever, allowing them to identify and nurture the culture and behaviours they want to inspire within their organisation.

Speaking about this latest awards achievement, Culture15’s CEO and Founder, Charlie Coode, states “We are thrilled to be recognised by InfoWorld alongside such strong competitors in the Business Intelligence and Analytics space. This nomination is a testament to the impact that data-driven cultural insights can have on worldwide business, as well as to the hard work and effort of our team. We look forward to seeing the results of the award and continuing to help organisations build cultures that work”.

Attensi RealTalk launch: AI Virtual Humans for Realistic 1:1 Workplace Role-Play Training

Attensi, a global leader in game-based simulation training, today unveiled Attensi RealTalk: the first role-play training solution to incorporate Agentic AI and AI free-form dialogue with realistic, virtual humans.

It comes as new research shows that 75% of employees have experienced anxiety due to difficult workplace conversations and 72% of employees would welcome training on how to handle difficult conversations in the workplace, rising to 87% for Gen Z.

And a majority of employees would welcome this training from an AI Virtual role-play trainer, rather than their manager. When asked if they would prefer role-play training from their manager or an AI Virtual trainer, employees were evenly split at 38% each way. Remarkably, almost a quarter of respondents – 24% – expressed no preference between the AI trainer and the human manager.

This will be welcome news for managers, who can save valuable time by handing training over to their AI Virtual Human colleagues.

75% of employees reported that they have experienced anxiety in handling difficult workplace conversations, with 63% having felt this in the last two years and 33% as recently as the last 6 months. This is even more stark for Gen Z and Millennials at 39% and 38% respectively.

The more they use AI, the more likely employees are to fear AI taking some or all of their jobs, but they are also the most likely to welcome AI to help them train to be better at their jobs.

A Safe Space to Practice Difficult Conversations

Attensi RealTalk enables employees to engage in realistic and challenging conversations in role-play scenarios, interacting with AI-powered virtual humans across a wide range of disciplines including:

  • Sales roles

  • Customer service

  • Coaching

Using a unique combination of Agentic AI, AI freeform dialogue, voice recognition, and bespoke simulation design, Attensi RealTalk transports users into real-time conversations in role-play scenarios that feel true-to-life in their job, enabling them to practice and improve their interpersonal skills in even the most challenging, uncomfortable, and nerve-wracking situations.

Unrivalled in the market – Attensi RealTalk is completely tailored to specific business contexts and requirements, including language and culture, to provide a realistic challenge for people from onboarding to upskilling.

For example:

  • A manager talking to a seemingly disengaged employee with the aim of resolving a recent lapse in customer service standards

  • A sales exec objection handling

  • A consultant engaging in a complex negotiation at risk of breaking down

  • A journalist conducting an exclusive interview with someone who is highly media trained

Attensi Conversation Training Impact Data:

  • 31% improvement in effective handling of difficult conversations

  • 96% felt more confident in client interactions

  • 89% increase in confidence in coaching and development teams

RealTalkers Don’t Just Talk Back, They Kick Back Too!

Lifelike and responsive at conversation pace, Attensi RealTalkers are engineered to feel real and push back when challenged. They are individually programmed to have realistic personality traits, human expressions, and character nuances. They can make you feel nervous and put you under pressure or shut down and close up if you push them too far – allowing you to practice EQ skills before in-person conversations.

Trainees can start in guided mode and progress to the more challenging open mode option.

Why Attensi RealTalk?

Attensi RealTalk solves many of the challenges related to traditional in-person training and role-plays, which are restricted by the availability of human resources, limited in scale and realistic context, and not always conducive to constructive learning for those who feel anxious or uncomfortable performing in front of peers or managers.

Key Features:

  • Realistic Conversations: Super-high-quality animations and natural voices for humanlike conversations in true-to-life interactions

  • Bespoke Solutions: Tailored to individual business needs, best practices, benchmark scoring, and objectives

  • Safe Space to Learn: A risk-free space where individuals are free to practice, adapt their techniques, and test different approaches

Trond Aas, CEO Attensi:

“AI is an ally rather than a threat to employees. Our human skills and EQ, particularly soft skills and interpersonal skills, are more important than ever. We know that people want more help with difficult conversations and Attensi RealTalk is the perfect partner. One of the most important use cases for AI is to upskill employees at scale in these areas. Employers need to embrace the power of AI and adopt the right AI tools to help their employees grow and excel, close skills gaps, and adapt to change. Practice Plus Group signs RLDatix to implement e-rostering solution

Practice Plus Group, the UK’s leading independent provider of healthcare services in prisons and immigration removal centres, has signed a 5-year contract with workforce solutions specialist RLDatix to implement its Optima solution to safely roster 3,300 prison healthcare staff – enabling them to deliver quality, equitable healthcare.

86% of UK people managers believe AI tools can improve their role effectiveness, Visier research finds

New research from Visier reveals the top factors shaping managers’ approach to decision-making in the workplace—and opportunities to incorporate generative AI tools to improve outcomes and bolster manager effectiveness.

Visier, the globally recognised leader in people analytics and workforce solutions for people-powered business, today unveiled new global research that serves as a plea for help from managers who see major insight gaps in what they need to do their jobs well – and points to enthusiasm for AI as a key solution.

The research shows that AI is seen as a net-positive addition to the flow of work with an overwhelming 86% of UK (87% overall) respondents expressing excitement about the potential of generative AI tools to improve their role as people managers. Managers also expressed an overarching desire to make better, data-informed people decisions with 94% of UK respondents (96% overall) agreeing that improved access to people-related data would lend more confidence to their processes.

“Nearly half of the survey respondents said their current decision making process is greatly influenced by intuition and practical experience, rather than hard facts,” said Ben Harris, Vice President EMEA, Visier. “Many managers also said that accessing data is time consuming and difficult, so relying on instinct is an everyday reality for most.

“It’s recognised that people managers in every sector are under severe pressure, and bearing in mind organisations are sitting on vast amounts of useful data, creating access to it – especially for those who aren’t data analysts – will help them with decision-making accuracy and align to overall organisational strategy. Through this research, managers said that better people-related data could inform their decisions on hiring, promotions, engagement, productivity and efficiency.”

As part of the research, Visier surveyed over 750 people managers in the UK, U.S., Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. The results revealed a clear belief in leveraging generative AI-powered tools to become better leaders.

Other key findings from Visier’s research include:

  • Adoption of AI is already underway with 52% of UK respondents saying they have already used generative AI tools to support their role as a people manager. This compares to 64% of overall respondents. Additionally, 59% of UK respondents already use it to help write performance reviews (in comparison to 49% globally). Likewise, 93% of UK respondents (81% overall) said if they had access to a generative AI tool that provided their desired use cases, 41% would use it multiple times a week.

  • Time savings created by AI would flow back to the team with 36% saying they’d direct their energies to team planning (UK 31%), and 30% on coaching their team. In the UK, the second highest choice was ‘working on personal learning and development’ (29%).

  • Trust is, however, a challenge, highlighting that employers and employees want to work with tools recognised as safe and secure. Thirty-three percent of UK respondents have concerns about data privacy and security. Another 33% of UK respondents said their organisations don’t allow the use of generative AI tools, while 15% said they don’t trust generative AI tools.

“Generative AI has the ability to democratise access, providing deep insights within the flow of work, and without the need to become proficient in analytics tools,” said Keith Bigelow, chief product officer, Visier. “But its benefits extend beyond the delivery of data to act as a personal coach to every employee, nudging them to ever higher performance, delivering real-time insights in a way that just hasn’t been possible or scalable to date.”

He continued: “Managers’ approaches to decision-making should always involve a balance of data-driven insights and experience. The absence of either harms the organisation’s ability to align to strategy and ultimately maintain a competitive edge.”

Industry first GenAI digital assistant helps HR get immediate answers to people related questions

  • Called “One of the most spectacular examples of Generative AI in HR” by Josh Bersin, Vee gives users instant, self-serve, secure and trustworthy workforce insights.
  • Following a successful preview program with 80+ customers, Vee is now generally available.
  • Enabled by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, Vee provides integration with Microsoft Teams, allowing users to get answers to complex questions in the flow of work related to workforce, performance and processes.
  • Visier partner, Paycor, introduced the power of Vee’s generative AI insights to its customers

VANCOUVER, BC | APRIL 16, 2023 – Visier, a globally recognized leader in people analytics and workforce solutions for people-powered business, today announced its generative AI based assistant Vee is now available to all customers and prospects. Vee instantly answers workforce specific questions for HR leaders, managers and executives–securely and accurately–helping to democratize people insights to all levels of an organization. Vee is also the foundation for Visier’s Embedded generative AI offering, which dramatically accelerates generative AI product roadmaps for peopletech SaaS vendors and solution providers.

A Breakthrough Generative AI Solution for People Insights

Visier’s rapid advancement in generative AI is anchored in a domain-specific data model, a community dataset built on 25 million anonymized employee records, more than 2,000 business metrics, and 250 million benchmarks from over 50,000 customers; as well as a robust security architecture the company has developed and perfected over the last decade. This gives Visier an unmatched advantage in delivering highly accurate and secure generative AI solutions for unlocking and scaling people insights.

“Generative AI is expected to cause profound disruptive change to virtually every enterprise function, but perhaps most notably in HR and how leaders manage people,” said Ryan Wong, co-founder and CEO, Visier. “People impact is business impact and Vee will help people leaders drive better productivity, employee impact, and overall corporate performance by making better decisions about people and the work they do. ”

Vee enters general availability following a successful six-month public preview, which invited 80+ Visier customer organizations to actively use and provide feedback on the product. The rapid evolution in capability and quality was evident through dozens of iterative releases and a continuous enhancement of LLM understanding, resulting in the highly performant and capable solution built on dedicated and scalable Microsoft Azure OpenAI compute.

“Vee is one of the most spectacular examples of generative AI in HR today,” said Josh Bersin, globally recognized HR industry analyst. “Every problem we need to solve in HR is interconnected. HR professionals need to connect data to diagnose people and business problems, and tools like Vee make this amazingly easy.”

Among the customers participating in the preview was Ascension, one of the largest healthcare companies in North America.

“Vee serves as a bridge between questioning and understanding, cultivating user engagement and enhancing data comprehension by providing simplified access to critical information without requiring expertise in emerging technologies,” said Ellen Gentile, HR analytics manager at Ascension. “Its streamlined query framework ensures data privacy and security while harnessing the full potential of generative AI, utilizing metadata instead of organizational data.”

According to another Visier customer participating in the public preview program was Sunstate Equipment, a leader in tools and equipment rentals for construction and industry:

“Vee is the future. It’s a technology that we absolutely need,” said Sameet Raut, vice president, HRIS, Sunstate Equipment. “It’s a game changer for the less tech-savvy to access people insights, like frontline managers who can ask a simple question in Microsoft Teams about their turnover and get an immediate answer instead of coming to the people analytics team.”

Visier Looks to Microsoft to Deliver Generative AI Innovations

At the core of Vee are Visier’s robust data and security models, but it also benefits from integrating Microsoft Azure Service. Visier’s collaboration with Microsoft also includes a Vee integration with Microsoft Teams which allows anyone to ask and answer Vee questions within Teams, in the flow of their daily work.

“The integration of artificial intelligence into human resources is reshaping the landscape of workforce management,” said Ross Kennedy, vice president digital natives at Microsoft. “Vee represents an option in the use of GenAI and Microsoft solutions for HR professionals who need fast and accurate insights to make the best decisions for their people and businesses.”

Deel is acquiring payroll company PaySpace

News comes as Deel hits 500M+ in annual recurring revenue within five years

Global payroll and HR company Deel announced today that it is acquiring African-based payroll and HR company PaySpace for an undisclosed amount. It also announced that it has achieved $500M in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within five years of founding. The acquisition of PaySpace positions Deel as a market leader in global payroll, deepening Deel’s native infrastructure and coverage.

PaySpace has more than 20 years of payroll technology experience, providing payroll engines and HR services in 44 countries across Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa for more than 14,000 customers. Its size, expertise, and proprietary disruptive payroll technology give it unrivaled scale and reach. Customers include multinationals across various industries such as Heineken, Coca-Cola Beverages, and Puma Sports.

By acquiring PaySpace, Deel will become the first global payroll & Employer of Record (EOR) with its own full-stack payroll engine localized in 50 countries and integrated into its offering. Deel has the ability to be the system of record for HR organizations worldwide and can give its customers a simple and single interface to manage their global teams. All of this results in greater efficiency and control for companies, faster payroll cycles, more localized compliance insights relevant to their workforce, plus the ability to make changes to their payroll at any time.

The news follows Deel’s acquisition of leading APAC payroll provider PayGroup. Deel now owns the full HR stack: entities, local teams (legal, HR, payroll), and local payroll engines across six continents. Its four-year ambition is to serve 100 countries with native payroll engines, and this acquisition is a significant step toward that goal.

Deel co-founder and CEO Alex Bouaziz said, “Global payroll is hard to do and critical to get right. As a company, you want assurances you can pay your teams on time, compliantly, anywhere in the world. PaySpace’s single-platform payroll expertise and breadth of coverage, particularly in Africa and the Middle East, combined with PayGroup’s presence in APAC, will give Deel customers the reach they need to grow their businesses globally. Our long-term vision is to be the most comprehensive payroll system in the world.”

Deel also announced today that it has achieved $500M+ in annual recurring revenue organically, outside of this acquisition. In under five years, the company has grown to 3,000+ team members in more than 100 countries. It has been EBITDA positive and consistently generating cash for a year and a half.

Last week, Deel announced its acquisition of Zavvy, a people-enablement platform. Zavvy offers a central hub that covers career development, performance management, and training programs. HR leaders can run performance and compensation analysis for top performers, provide a library of AI-backed L&D courses, and create bespoke career paths and planning modules for their teams. The move rounds out Deel’s HR suite of products, making it even more of a one-stop-shop for global teams.

Deel Acquires People Development Platform Zavvy

Zavvy performance management and L&D software rounds out Deel’s payroll & HR solutions

Global payroll & HR company Deel announced today that it has acquired German-based people enablement platform Zavvy. All of Zavvy’s team members are joining Deel.

Founded in 2021 by Mehmet Yilmaz and Joshua Cornelius, Munich-based Zavvy is a people-enablement platform. It offers a central hub that covers career development, performance management, and training programs. One of Zavvy’s big differentiators is its embedded AI technology that makes suggestions for managers to assess team performance and create personalized career development plans. Zavvy counts Moss, Primer, LoveBonito, TypeForm, and more as customers.

With Zavvy, HR leaders can run performance and compensation analysis for top performers, provide a library of AI-backed L&D courses, and create bespoke career paths and planning modules for their teams. These capabilities will be integrated into a new product suite called Deel Engage and will cost $20 per user per month.

Deel also announced today that it is making Deel HR – previously free for up to 200 users – free for any size company. For the first time in the industry, learning management, performance, HRIS, and compliance knowledge will be available from one company at one price.

This is big news for companies trying to manage a global workforce. Typically, businesses have to patch together different HR and payroll systems, along with performance, benefits, equity, and more. Now with Zavvy integrated into Deel’s payroll and HRIS system, employers can save on admin and supercharge their teams’ efficiency and performance in one global system of record. It provides an unrivaled view of a company’s global workforce across every aspect of the employee lifecycle.

This news positions Deel as the first company to provide a free HRIS product alongside people management, employer-of-record and contractor hiring, global payroll, compliance expertise, and in-house legal and immigration services.

Co-founder and co-CEO Mehmet Yilmaz said of the acquisition: “We started Zavvy to help unlock people’s work potential. Joining Deel – the leading HR platform for tomorrow’s workforce – will greatly accelerate this mission. Both companies are passionate about driving innovation in the HR sector, with a focus on hiring and nurturing great talent around the world.”

Deel co-founder and CEO Alex Bouaziz said, “Deel is all about helping companies get the best out of their global teams, and Zavvy’s AI technology is at the forefront of people management and talent development. It’s a perfect fit – our customers are looking for a one-stop-shop for all things HR, and Zavvy’s people management tools now fill in that missing piece of our global HR offering.”

HR analyst and Managing Partner of 3SixtyInsights, Pete Tiliakos, said, “Zavvy’s people enablement technology is a perfect complement to the broader Deel ecosystem of global employment solutions. The addition is well-timed in enabling employers to develop and retain skills and talent through highly personalized learning and development experiences, while providing employers with a single platform for compliant global employment and talent enrichment.”

2024 will be the year of the AI productivity boom – is the HR sector ready?

Written by Attensi, CEO, Trond Aas

AI is no longer a buzzword, it is here to stay. 2023 saw a breakthrough on large language models and how AI can assist people in gaining knowledge and as well as creative content. ChatGPT gained 1 million users in just 5 days, AI is in our daily lives and it will rapidly increase our productivity in 2024. According to Mckinsey it has the potential to save 60% to 70% of employees’ time.  Not since the introduction of the internet has there been such a change to the working world.

In 2024 we will experience huge benefits from AI to organisations.

The perception that AI will take over human employment leaving mass redundancies will become less of a concern. The reality that AI works with the grain of human nature, enhancing people’s capabilities rather than replacing them – will become more apparent in daily life. AI can’t  function without the input of people, but people will have to reskill to manage this new responsibility of having an AI co-pilot. Once employees are comfortable with the adoption of AI, organisations will enjoy a rapid boost in productivity. HR professionals are crucial to the success of the implementation of AI throughout organisations so it is imperative the sector understands the new working landscape.

Predictions on how AI will enhance productivity in 2024

Less time spent on laborious queries

AI is a massive revolution, the single biggest since the internet and in 2024 the reality of it will set in. Everyday more people will use AI in their lives. As customer experience increasingly relies on AI to resolve queries, employees will have more time to spend on more challenging tasks and more time to upskill. HR Managers should be ready to boost employees’ career paths with clear continuous learning plans that inspire.

Employees become editors

Next year and beyond most office based employees will use AI assistance for an increasing number of tasks. This makes the skillset of an editor, fact-checker and reliability checker increasingly more important. By skilling-up to efficiently oversee quality control and to humanise computer generated text, employees will complete tasks more quickly without losing the human touch. Using AI in the right way will empower people to become more creative and free up their time, leaving more laborious tasks to computers. For example, meeting notes will be automatically recorded in sequence and updated in follow up meetings – no need for someone to take on this time consuming responsibility. Employees will be required to adopt editing skills across multiple disciplines and sector wide. HR professionals should be ready to support employees in this new work requirement.

Copilot AIs will be common

AI copilots are already among the working community, but this will increase even further in 2024 leaving more time for creativity. By using AI copilots – human designers, writers and coders can access a vast amount of information and support quickly. Time consuming tasks such as 3D rendering of intricate image details will be completed automatically, leaving more time for the creative sector to create even more ambitious designs. The copilot feature is intrinsic to boosting productivity. HR professionals will be required to address concerns among employees worried about their employment. A fundamental part of this solution will be to train their employees to adjust well to their new Ai tools so that they can work to their full potential.

Huge increase in productivity

2024 will see more text to voice, AI generated translations and copilot content design. Organisations need to embrace the opportunities AI offers. Resistance to change will be an issue that HR professionals may need to grapple with as employees adjust to the change in their ingrained processes. As working processes change, organisations will start to want to have their own models rather than relying on third party providers. This will enable more control over the source material that will feed into employees AI models, ensuring it is accurate and regulated. There will be a surge in organisations assessing and refining their AI policies and there will be wider controls on ethical and responsible uses and management of AI.  The only way to harness this shift in commercial reality is by educating and upskilling employees.

So as the next phase in AI really makes a substantial impact on the global economy, the HR sector needs to be ready to both reassure and upskill. HR should be ready to update their training programmes for employees inline with their new AI responsibilities. Employees should be reassured that AI is not going to replace them,  but will enhance, empower and make their working lives a lot more exciting. Leadership teams should know that AI will offer a more fulfilled and happy workforce with increased productivity. This technology represents the future. It’s indisputable, you need to be part of this.

Drawing on two decades of industry knowledge and collaboration with hundreds of UK businesses, the platform ensures cost-effective, compelling services, and personalised benefits.

The scalable, single sign on (SSO) web platform and app offer five solutions to customers that can be mixed and matched so that each organisation can build bespoke reward and recognition as well as benefits, that are unique to their people, whether they be employees, members or contractors.

“Our new mobile app and SaaS platform is part of our unwavering commitment to continually innovate and deliver the ultimate experience for businesses wanting to improve their employee engagement,” commented Simon Chambers, CTO, Boostworks. “The seamless single sign-on experience enables employees to tap into rewards and peer recognition effortlessly. Furthermore, HR and benefits professionals can swiftly set up and brand packages through the user-friendly admin centre, gaining full control over scheme management and communications, moving towards truly self-service functionality.”

As Gary Thomas, Head of Reward and Pensions at Aggregate Industries explains, “Boostworks has helped to transform our employee rewards programme, enabling instant recognition and seamless integration with our employee engagement channel. With the recent relaunch of our recognition programme, “The Above and Beyond Awards’, we’re now able to drive instant recognition among our almost 4,000 strong workforce. Boostworks’ platform enables our managers to reward individuals in the moment, and in turn, thanks to the SSO functionality, people can access their reward points instantly. There’s no doubt that this seamless and agile solution has helped us to foster a more connected, recognised and motivated community.”
