Care business celebrating national award spreads Christmas cheer ahead of 2025 recruitment drive

A CARING company is spreading Christmas cheer across North Wales after scooping an illustrious national industry award.

Colwyn Bay-based Enhanced Healthcare visited care homes across the region delivering festive arts and crafts sessions to hundreds of residents.

With more set to take place in the coming weeks, the recruitment agency – named Health and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year at the British Business Awards – has cemented its place among the leading and most caring names in the sector.

With more than 170 employees delivering temporary staffing solutions to a range of health and social care services, founder Chanel Williams says the commitment to their “people” is unwavering.

“To win such a prestigious award was amazing and is testament to the incredible dedication of our healthcare support workers and outstanding office team,” said Chanel, who launched the business in 2021, as she herself was seven months pregnant in hospital recovering from a life-threatening condition.

“Without their compassion and drive none of this would be possibleand for it to come as we are visiting our care home partners across the region and delivering festive workshops is fantastic, it’s given everyone an extra dose of Christmas cheer as they have proven very popular.”

Those words were echoed by Wendy Rogers from Glan Rhos Nursing Home in Brynsiencyn, Anglesey, who said: “Enhanced Healthcare ran a Christmas card making workshop for our patients. They were friendly, enthusiastic and very kind, taking the time to chat with everyone and making sure they all got the chance to make cards using the colours and patterns that they liked despite not everyone being able to make them themselves.

“They brought an amazing collection of materials and gave demonstrations whilst also taking an interest in each person. We are looking forward to seeing them again soon.”

Taking a collaborative approach to care was also well-received at Wynne Crest Care Home in Old Colwyn, whose residents enjoyed the yuletide activities.

Manager Angela Peacock said: “As well as getting together and having fun it was useful in helping with hand-eye coordination and socialisation. Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon, and it brought a smile to their faces.”

Brenda Hughes, Scheme Manager at ClwydAlyn’s Hafan Cefni extra care development on Anglesey, added: “The residents thoroughly enjoyed their session, it was a great event to kick off the Christmas festivities.”

Words echoed by the organisation’s Executive Director of Extra Care and Support, Ed Hughes: “We are appreciative of Enhanced Healthcare for supporting resident activity sessions across a number of our North Wales services. They provide agency support to ClwydAlyn and their commitment to giving back to communities was a key reason for choosing them as our preferred supplier.”

Enhanced Healthcare’s Director of Operations Natalie O’Brien says they plan to roll out these events every Christmas.

She revealed the focus now is on raising spirits in the run up to January before a new year recruitment drive.

“We are so heartened to hear such positive responses, which gives us an even further boost following the company’s success at the British Business Awards,” added Natalie.

“Our commitment is to people, which includes our amazing team, and that is why we will be looking to grow further in 2025.

“We are holding an open event for prospective care workers in January, with an exclusive £250 joining bonus for anyone who completes 250 hours of work in just three months.

“This is just one of the offers and incentives to join Enhanced Healthcare, a forward-thinking, next generation staffing provider which takes the word ‘care’ to a whole new level.”

New sales boss spearheads expansion plans at 150-strong care agency

ONE of the most respected names in the North Wales commercial and health sectors has joined the team at an acclaimed care organisation.

Leanne Andrews is the new Head of Sales at Enhanced Healthcare.

Following almost 20 years in media and advertising, the mum-of-two switched to medical recruitment during the pandemic and is now spearheading a campaign to attract more clients and carers following a successful first three years for the Colwyn Bay-based agency.

Originally from Rhyl, she has already secured customers from Anglesey to Chester and is pleased to join a business with a “clear and caring vision” for the future having been given a warm welcome by founder Chanel Williams and Director of Operations, Natalie O’Brien.

“As soon as I sat down with Chanel and Natalie, I knew this was the place for me,” said Leanne, who lives in Kinmel Bay with fiancé Dion and her children Ava and Brodie.

“Enhanced Healthcare is widely praised for putting people first, from patients and families to their own team of more than 150 nurses and health and social care workers.

“Their values and standards align with my own, so I am thrilled to be here and excited at the strides we have already taken together in growing the company in this region, into the North West and beyond.”

The firm – which delivers temporary staffing solutions to a range of health and social care services – has received plaudits for helping employees cope with the social, economic, and mental health challenges of the current cost-of-living crisis.

This included training and events with financial advisers, health and wellbeing experts and more, tackling issues such as debt, mortgages, rising childcare costs, energy bills and the compounded remnants of recent times, including Brexit and Covid-19.

Leanne says the knock-on effect is an even stronger and more positive collective determined to raise the bar for the healthcare arena.

“This in turn is very attractive to prospective employees, who are keen to join an agency which has their best interests at heart,” she said.

“That’s certainly the case here and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Leanne added: “I had always loved sales but wanted to do something that made a difference, and this role has given me the chance to do that, providing solutions for a wide range of clients from housing associations, nursing homes and local authorities to supported living services and mental health settings.

“I joined the industry during the Covid-19 pandemic, so I was in at the deep end, but the experience was pivotal in building my confidence and the confidence of customers.

“The numbers on both sides are growing all the time – staff and clients – and we look forward to more joining us in the months ahead.”

Chanel is thrilled to have Leanne in their ranks and said: “Her reputation and ethos runs parallel with ours. She is driven and determined to make a difference, for the customers and in matching the right candidate with the right setting.

“That is vital for what we do, and why we are expanding both here in North Wales and across Cheshire, the Wirral, and neighbouring areas.

“Leanne will be key to that growth, she is well known, well respected and a great addition to our talented team.”

150+ staff at booming care agency benefit from cost of living and mental health support

A CARING business is supporting its 150-strong workforce with a series of events and activities to combat the cost-of-living crisis and health and wellbeing challenges post-Covid.

Since launching in the pandemic, Enhanced Healthcare has grown to become one of the leading names in the sector.

The Colwyn Bay-based organisation is blazing a trail for others in the industry and has done so by prioritising its own team of nurses and health and social care staff.

Delivering temporary staffing solutions to a range of health and social care services across North Wales and beyond, the award-winning company was launched by Chanel Williams in 2021, as she herself was seven months pregnant in hospital recovering from a life-threatening condition.

That same year, Chanel was joined by friend and former colleague Natalie O’Brien, who took up the role of Director of Operations, and together they have overseen a period of expansion while doing all they can to help agency employees cope with the social, economic, and mental health challenges facing many people today.

“The last few years have been difficult in so many ways, with the Covid pandemic and cost-of-living crisis in particular having a huge impact nationwide,” said Chanel, from Colwyn Bay.

“Working within health and social care our team and the services we support were at the forefront of one of the most critical and demanding times we’ve ever faced, so it’s crucial as a responsible business we do all we can to create a supportive, open environment.

“We’ve organised events with financial advisers, health and wellbeing experts and more, tackling issues such as debt, mortgages, rising childcare costs, energy bills and the compounded remnants of the pandemic.

“I have been humbled by the response and proud our team feel they able to talk to us; they are the beating heart of Enhanced Healthcare and that will never change.”

Staff also enjoyed a free day of activities during the Easter break – alleviating some of the financial pressures the school holidays can bring – and held ‘drop-in’ days on a wide range of other topics including nutrition, budgeting, and money saving tips, with yoga, managing stress and physical wellbeing sessions planned for the near future.

“We will hold regular, accessible events for the team,” said Natalie, from Anglesey.

“Not only does this give us peace of mind, that we are doing all we can to help them through these challenging economic times, but it’s also good for morale.

“This is an investment in forward-thinking change which will in turn create positive working environments, improve staff retention, and reduce stress-related conditions.

“We have already seen the results, that by adopting this approach we can in turn make a greater difference and improve the quality of service for our clients and other stakeholders.

“Ultimately, a happy and supported workforce is far more proactive and productive than one which feels undervalued and overburdened. That’s huge for us, and for them in meeting our high standards – we encourage other organisations to consider taking the same steps.”
