Carmarthenshire business championing outdoor pursuits with handmade gifts

Creative handmade business, Adventure Accessories is thriving – and owner Sarah Skilton celebrated her first business anniversary – with a hike!

Passionate adventurer Sarah explains:
“Adventure Accessories combines a passion for adventure with a love of crafts. I love exploring the Brecon Beacons national park, and am proud to call South West Wales my home.”
“While out hiking last year, I wanted gloves to keep my hands warm – but none of the ones I’ve bought over the years were practical enough to get items from a backpack or to hold on to a dog lead, map or compass.  Furthermore, very few commercially produced outdoor accessories are fashionable or attractive.  I decided to crochet my own crochet fingerless mitts – firstly for myself, and later for the friends I walk with.
“The word soon spread and Adventure Accessories was the result – we now have a collection of functional yet beautiful adventure accessories, including ear warmer headbands, slouchy beanie hats and lap blankets for people who don’t want to sacrifice warmth and comfort when on a trek.”
The range of accessories for outdoor enthusiasts also features hand-sewn faux leather or cork fabric Traveller Notebook journals with custom linings, Macramé bracelets using parachute cord or cotton and handmade hair scrunchies to tame windblown hair – meanwhile, Sarah is scoring social media awards success and rave reviews for her unique products, being crowned ‘Queen of Gifts for Outdoors 2018’.
