Charities receive funding boost from Bridgend ex-Mayor

The former Mayor or Bridgend, Cllr John McCarthy, has presented cheques to the three charities he chose to support during his year in office.

A total of £6,600 was split equally between Tenovus Cancer Care, Parkinson’s UK and the Stroke Association after being raised at various events organised by the Mayor.

Cllr McCarthy, who is one of the ward members for Hendre, Pencoed said:

“With so many worthy causes to choose from, it was very difficult to select my chosen charities, but I went with three charities that are close to my heart due to having family and friends who have been affected by cancer, parkinson’s and stroke.

“All three organisations do wonderful work to support local people so I’m thrilled to present these cheques. I’d like to thank everyone who supported my fundraising events last year.”
