Visa launches exciting competition as part of their ‘Where you shop matters’ Campaign
Visa’s 2019 Christmas campaign is urging people across the Wales to show their local high street some love this festive season and shop locally this year.
One of the independent businesses featuring in Visa’s 2019 festive campaign is Halls of Llandaff on Llandaff High Street in Cardiff. Purveyors of unique and unusual gifts and cards since 1979, the shop is a destination for local people looking for something unique.
Pete Hall, owner of Halls of Llandaff says:
“We have built up a great customer base over the years and retained our customers as our business evolved from a bookshop to card and gift store. We often get people calling in just to chat – it’s really important to connect with local people and build a sense of community.”
“We are really excited to see the billboard up in the local town at such a significant time of year!”
Visa’s Christmas campaign is supporting the UK’s independent retailers for a second year. In a rallying cry to UK shoppers, the campaign is encouraging people to switch their focus from what they are buying to where they are buying, urging shoppers to show their local high streets some love this Christmas and beyond.
The TV advert features 13 real shopkeepers – including a bookseller, greengrocer, antique dealer and café owner – singing Queen’s Somebody to Love. The campaign will put the spotlight on over 150 independent retailers nationwide, including featuring them in personalised adverts on prime city-centre billboards as well as geo-targeted ads on social media.
The campaign also features a nationwide competition inviting shopkeepers from Cardiff and beyond to warm up their vocal cords and recreate Visa’s Christmas advert to show why ‘Where You Shop Matters’. The winning retailer will see their advert air during a prime-time advertising slot in the run-up to Christmas for millions to see.
