Work starts on new housing development in Oadby

Building work has started at a housing development which will bring 310 much-needed new homes to Leicestershire.

The joint scheme, by Bellway East Midlands and Ashberry Homes South Midlands, will feature a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes on land off Gartree Road, Oadby, including 93 properties which will be provided as affordable housing for local people.

Bellway is set to deliver 221 homes on its part of the development – Stoughton Park – while Ashberry Homes’ Horwood Gardens will see a further 89 homes built.
The development will include public open space and woodland, as well as a reconfigured and improved 91-space car park serving the Cow and Plough pub and the historic farm buildings of Stoughton Grange, which have been converted into commercial units.

With construction work now underway, the housebuilders are hoping to release the first homes for sale at the start of next year.

Claire Black, Sales Manager for Bellway East Midlands, said: “It is great to see that work is now underway on our Stoughton Park development.
“We are expecting the new homes to be extremely popular, as these developments offer house-hunters a great selection of homes built by two five-star builders in a sought-after and accessible location.”

Elaine Brown, Head of Sales for Ashberry Homes South Midlands, said: “We have worked closely with the local authority to design a development which suits the needs of local buyers, so we are really pleased that work has begun and we will soon be able to meet the demand for housing in the area.

“Oadby is a great location for buyers at all stages of the ladder, as it is within easy reach of the city centre and the University of Leicester, while also being near to the picturesque Leicestershire countryside.”

More information on the homes can be found at bellway.co.uk or ashberryhomes.co.uk, where house-hunters can register an interest and receive the latest development updates.
