The Skills Network, the UK’s largest online learning provider, has joined forces with Scottish-based brewery and pub chain BrewDog, to create its first online learning academy for its 2,000 strong workforce.
With experience of working with the likes of NHS and Thomson Reuters, The Skills Network has developed the ‘BrewDog Academy’ to host online courses for employees to access and gain national qualifications. The fully funded courses are also available for those on furlough who may wish to use their extra time to upskill.
As part of the partnership, BrewDog employees will have free access to nearly 30 nationally recognised Level 1 and 2 courses across of range of sectors and industries, with everything available to study, from an award in ‘Mental Health Awareness’ to a certificate in ‘Team Leader Supervisor’. As part of this scheme, the brewing company has also launched an apprenticeship program training 30 of its current employees in leaderships skills.
Rachel George, Head of Apprenticeships at The Skills Network, said: “With the past year having a massive effect on employees, BrewDog approached The Skills Network to help provide employees with the opportunity to continue to grow and develop their skills. By offering access to a wide range of free courses, expert tutors, and a dedicated company platform, we can help support hundreds of adults to upskill and gain new qualifications at the same time.
“It’s really exciting to work with a business like BrewDog and to be able to deliver a tailor-made programme that is completely personalised to the company’s goals and employees’ skillsets. This will enable them to build knowledge within the business whilst rewarding staff by investing in learning and development.”
Karen Bates, People Director at BrewDog added: “We are so proud of all staff at BrewDog for their hard work throughout the pandemic. As a way to say thank you, we wanted to launch the BrewDog Academy – our dedicated online learning platform providing all employees with online courses and national qualifications.
“By investing in our employees’ futures and supporting their career goals, we are allowing them to be the best they can be, resulting in a workforce who feels valued. With The Skills Network, our employees are not only benefitting from gaining national qualifications but also have access to the complete BrewDog Academy platform. They helped us identify our training needs and develop a framework that suits the business as a whole.”
