Vidatec relocates to join Dundee technology hub

Award-winning digital transformation specialist, Vidatec, has opened its new headquarters at Innovation House in the Dundee Technology Park. The state of the art office space will be home to Vidatec’s growing team of developers, designers and UX/UI specialists, as well as its operations and marketing functions.

Vidatec is part of The Insights Group, with its sister company Insights Learning and Development, a global learning and development business, also headquartered in Dundee.  With both businesses seeing demand for services increase throughout 2021, the move offers strong opportunity for further growth and collaboration.

Vidatec is an industry leading provider of bespoke digital solutions for brands, working with companies ranging from Ryvita to Value Retail, Public Health England and Saga. It also owns the brands Engage4, which enable individuals, teams and entire organisations to drive positive change within their workplace culture, and Carezapp, a technology enabled care platform.

The digital transformation experts, originally based in Stirling, will be joining a thriving and dynamic technology community that has been growing in Dundee over recent years.

Greig Johnston, CEO of Vidatec, said: “Moving into the technology hub of Dundee and becoming part of the wider community is an exciting opportunity for everyone at Vidatec. It gives us room to continue our growth plans and, after we’ve all had to endure life in the pandemic over the last 18 months, the move comes as a real boost for our staff. We’re looking ahead with great optimism.”

“Dundee has become a melting pot of innovation over the years and this aligns perfectly with our own purpose to make an impact with the work that we do. To be among other great businesses working to help Scotland remain a dominant figure in the technology and innovation space makes this the ideal place for Vidatec to relocate.”

The move follows a successful year for the company as demand for its products and services grew considerably as the pandemic accelerated digital adoption for many brands and organisations.

Johnston continued: “The last year has undoubtedly fast-tracked the rate at which businesses rely on technology, both internally and to engage with customers. Part of Vidatec’s vision is to ensure that companies have the right digital solutions in place to provide the best possible user experience.”

Vidatec also arrives in Dundee as a committed investor in people development, recently completing the latest round of its Vidatec Academy. This initiative was introduced to open opportunities and nurture talent from all different backgrounds, providing hands-on practical training and development within a busy business environment. Participants receive specialist training in digital skills such as software development, mobile and web development, UX/UI, QA and architecture. Vidatec Academy recruits shadow industry leading professionals and work on live projects for big brands over the 12-month duration of the programme.

Johnston explained: “I’m sure everybody trying to make their way at the beginning of a career will have faced the challenge of not being able to get a job without experience and not being able to get experience without a job. Our thinking behind setting up the Vidatec Academy was to remove these barriers and create more of a win-win scenario for employer and employee alike. We’re benefitting from finding exceptional talent in places we might not have looked before, while those that have a passion for digital, but may not have necessarily taken the academic route to a career, are given the time and access to invaluable training. We’re looking forward to continuing this programme in Dundee.”

Andrew Lothian, Group Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted to have both our Group businesses headquartered together in Dundee. We are very proud to continue supporting our home city, where it all began for us. Insights and Vidatec are unique organisations, and the opportunities for collaboration and growth through this move are very exciting. What makes Vidatec special is its purpose, “to improve people’s experience of life through technology”. That purpose exists both in what we do and how we operate. We are looking forward to playing our part in Dundee’s thriving technology scene.”
