Chelmsford-based Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties has made a donation of £7,700 to CHESS Homeless (Church Homeless Emergency Support Scheme), one of its Charities of the Year for 2022.
CHESS operates 13 properties in Chelmsford that offer temporary accommodation and support services for up to 66 single homeless adults. The charity ensures that people who find themselves homeless are given the support they need to move forward and live a good, independent life.
Matt Cranfield, Finance Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, presented the donation to Lynne Dejoodt, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at CHESS.
Lynne commented: “We were excited at the opportunity to share the work that we do with a local business and build a relationship with Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
“Our services have more than doubled in a very short space of time. This does mean with our extra residents and properties the running costs are much higher, especially with the rise in energy costs and food. The donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will go some way to relieving the pressure.
“We would like to thank Barratt and David Wilson Homes for choosing CHESS as a charity partner. The last few years haven’t been what we expected and we appreciate the efforts they have gone to raise these funds for us.
“The services we provide are a lifeline for people in our community and we are thrilled that Barratt and David Wilson Homes chose to support our efforts.”
Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, Simon Wood, said: “We fully appreciate our responsibility to contribute to our local community. With the rising cost of living, we know that now more than ever, charities like CHESS are essential in our society.
“At Barratt and David Wilson Homes, we are proud to support such an important charity. I would like to thank all our staff for helping to raise this money that will help CHESS continue their vital work.”
CHESS will be running new fundraising events throughout the year, including their annual Sleep Out and a Summer Fun Day. To find out more, visit https://chesshomeless.org/.
