Two Northamptonshire NHS Trusts seek doctors and nurses keen to relocate for a better work/life balance

Kettering General Hospital (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital (NGH) are currently on a recruitment drive for doctors and nurses – offering the ideal opportunity for those looking to relocate for a better work/life balance, as well as excellent career progression.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic there has been a growing trend for people to move out of the city. Property portal, Rightmove[i] recently reported that many homebuyers are planning to escape to the countryside as they saw a 125 per cent increase in people looking to move to villages after the coronavirus lockdown.

This, along with the temporary reduction in stamp duty until March 2021 with no duty to be paid on houses below £500K, is expected to boost applications for positions in Northamptonshire – an area which offers stunning countryside and quaint villages with affordable housing, but with good links to the rest of the UK.

Rebecca Bell, HR Manager Workforce Planning at Kettering General Hospital said: “The pandemic has caused people to re-evaluate their life and career. Many healthcare professionals, who have been on the frontline during this crisis, are also looking to strike a better work/life balance.

“Kettering General Hospital offers great career prospects in a friendly work environment, in an area where the cost of living is less. Now is a good time to move and get on the property ladder, as well as advance your career.”

Kettering General Hospital covers a large part of the Northamptonshire area, with outpatient clinics in Corby, Wellingborough and Rushden, as well as Kettering General itself. The hospital has 600 beds and 17 theatres, employs around 4,000 staff and is one of the largest employers in Northampton.

The hospital is currently recruiting for a Band 5 nurse on an acute gastroenterology ward and a registered nurse on a medical assessment ward. They are also recruiting new registered nurses who will qualify in 2020/21 and are keen to start their nursing career in a supportive environment that offers a wide range of training and development opportunities.

Northampton General Hospital provides acute care services for 380,000 people and has two gynaecology theatres and 2 obstetric theatres that are open 24/7. The hospital has recently invested in new facilities, including an emergency centre and a new chemotherapy suite, offering a great work environment for its healthcare teams.

Current vacancies include three Middle Grade Speciality doctor posts in Otolaryngology and a Consultant with an interest in critical care medicine at Northampton General Hospital.

Both hospitals are part of the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ recruitment campaign that  brings together the University of Northampton, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital (KGH), St Andrew’s Healthcare and Northants GP and aims to recruit nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals to live and work in Northamptonshire.
