New Sanei SK1-311SK Linerless Kiosk Printer from Star Micronics

High Wycombe, UK, 21 July 2022 Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of packaged and modular specialist kiosk printing solutions, announces the latest addition to its range of Sanei SK1 kiosk printers, the SK1-311SK linerless kiosk printer. This printer enhances Star’s wide selection of highly compact Sanei open frame printers for limited space enclosures.

The Sanei SK1-311SK can be built into a kiosk to offer a versatile labelling solution that supports full glue coverage MAXStick® media, as well as PlusD diamond pattern, making it ideal for a range of applications in the retail, hospitality and transport sectors.

Designed to print repositionable variable length thermal labels, the SK1-311SK eliminates any unused white space on labels, thus reducing paper consumption. With its open chassis design, 200mm/sec print speed and 80mm paper width, the space-saving and lightweight SK1-311SK is perfect for integration into a variety of kiosk terminals for any self-service application.

With StarPRNT emulation, Star’s wide range of drivers / SDKs and utilities can be used for various operating systems. In addition, thanks to enhanced firmware, the paper in the SK1-311SK is periodically moved to prevent adhesion inside the unit if it is not used for long periods of time, whilst a textured sensor bar ensures accidental label adhesion is avoided. Furthermore, all SK1-311 models are available with RS-232C and USB interfaces which integrate with many current kiosk solutions.

The SK1-311SK builds on Star’s existing range of linerless printers that includes the Cloud enabled TSP654IISK printer with paper taken sensor. This printer has been integrated in global retail and hospitality applications for reliable and accurate food and product labelling as well as kitchen order printing.

“In response to the growing demand for compact printer mechanisms to meet the current trend for slim, space-saving kiosks, Star has actively expanded its range of Sanei printers,” states Simon Martin, Director & General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA. “Offering the new Sanei SK1-311SK linerless kiosk printer demonstrates Star’s commitment to providing a variety of kiosk solutions with exceptional functionality and maximum flexibility.”

Star has developed a range of innovative receipt and order printing solutions that provide the flexibility required to integrate traditional and state-of-the-art tablet and cloud-based POS for retail in a rapidly changing market.

With over 2.5 million units sold to date worldwide, the TSP100 series is one of Star’s most established printer ranges. The recently launched TSP100IV offering innovative new features for omnichannel retail will be on show, including the TSP143IV UE model which provides multi-connectivity to cater for traditional point of sale applications as well as mobile and cloud POS. The TSP100IV is available with Star’s new MCW10 Wireless LAN module offering a compact solution that supports the new WPA3 standard for wireless printer communication. It also supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with 5GHz being resistant to the interference of radio waves generated by microwave ovens to provide a safe and effective wireless LAN solution for hospitality. With Ethernet and USB cables included in the box, the MCW10 provides a cost-effective plug and play multi-port wireless LAN solution for both TSP100IV and mC-Print™ models that allows two printers or other devices to be connected at the same time. By deploying the MCW10, users can quickly and easily benefit from robust wireless communication thanks to the Star Quick Setup Utility.

As retail businesses strive to offer a seamless omnichannel customer experience, Star’s unique CloudPRNT™ technology is available on a variety of Star printers and is built in to the TSP100IV. Alongside this technology, Star will be demonstrating its new StarPrinter.online, fully managed service for retail businesses to manage the printer estate with minimal set-up time and cost as well as near zero integration. If required, customers can simply send a receipt or an order as an html file or even an email directly to the printer. In addition, it is ideal for hospitality customers wishing to print remote orders from their own websites, directly to the kitchen, without the need for the chef to touch a tablet.

With sustainability a key topic, Star will be showing a number of alternative options including re-stick media alongside environmentally friendly media solutions which are both sustainable and recyclable, including Blue4est® approved paper.

The TSP654IISK linerless label printer and new SK1-311SK linerless kiosk mechanism both offer versatile labelling solutions which support MaxStick® liner-free media. With the recent growth in online orders across multiple channels along with increased allergy legislation, the cloud-enabled TSP654IISK provides an environmentally friendly solution for printing customer online orders for takeaway, delivery and item labelling.

Allowing greater cost management and flexibility for businesses, Star will also be introducing a new concept, LeasyPay, which provides small businesses with an all-in-one solution including hardware, software and all the resources required for operating procedures in return for a monthly rental fee. The last two years have shown the ability to plan expenditure and ensure operational processes at business checkout areas to be business-critical in retail and hospitality, requiring increasingly flexible solutions.

Star Micronics launches TSP654IISK linerless label printer with enhanced functionality

High Wycombe, UK, 2 September 2020 International POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics announces the launch of its latest direct thermal linerless label printer, the TSP654IISK. Designed for use in quick service and fast-food restaurants, cafés and takeaway outlets to print repositionable labels, food orders and bag labels as well as product labels for retail and logistics, the printer excels in its versatility.

With the recent growth in online orders across multiple channels alongside increased allergy legislation and custom orders, Star has developed the TSP654IISK to provide reliable and accurate label / order printing. Featuring a 180mm/second print speed and compact design, the TSP654IISK prints high resolution text and graphics on linerless MAXStick® media of 40mm, 58mm or 80mm roll widths.

With more labels on linerless media than on standard label rolls and the flexibility to use a 40mm roll for smaller items, cost savings can be achieved. Moreover, as repositionable thermal labels can stick to virtually any surface and be removed easily and reapplied without residue, the label can track an order through the entire preparation process from initial order to delivery, providing the potential for greater order accuracy and efficiency.

The TSP654IISK includes a high quality anti-jam guillotine cutter and paper taken sensor for efficient order management at busy times when multiple orders are being processed. The paper taken sensor can be enabled to hold each new label / order until the previous one has been taken, allowing the host software to identify the time at which the ticket was taken and how long after printing or before delivery the print job was started. An optional buzzer can be connected to alert the operator either once or at repeated intervals that the label is waiting to be taken.

The TSP654IISK is available with interchangeable plug-in interfaces including Serial, USB and Ethernet LAN for system versatility and upgradeability. An MFi certified Bluetooth model is also available. Additionally, the TSP654IISK is compatible with Star’s unique HI X Connect interface offering Star WebPRNT™ and CloudPRNT™ technology to enable direct local or remote server communication and printing. This is ideal for direct printing of food orders and delivery labels from online ordering and delivery software without a local tablet or POS system. Furthermore, the printer benefits from hub functionality with 2 USB host ports allowing a USB scanner or customer display to be connected.

As Simon Martin, Director & General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA, states: “Building on the success of Star’s existing label printing range, the new TSP654IISK boasts unrivalled functionality and versatility. With SDK support for iOS, Android and Windows to allow simple integration into a variety of POS, Tablet and Cloud solutions, the TSP654IISK provides the wide range of Star software partners across retail and hospitality with a versatile linerless label printing solution that effectively meets the demands of an omnichannel environment.”
