University Academy 92 (UA92) today launches its ‘Unlock Your Greatness’ scholarships to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Two full tuition scholarships will be awarded to students demonstrating resilience and determination despite facing significant challenges. This is the first year that students have been able to apply directly for the scholarships.
The scholarships are specifically designed to support students from the UK’s lowest participation areas who have demonstrated exceptional resilience in overcoming personal challenges to pursue higher education.
UA92 has a proud history of supporting students from less advantaged areas with 18.6 per cent of its applicants coming from the lowest participation areas (POLAR4 Quintile 1) – significantly more than the sector average.
Gary Neville, co-founder of UA92 (pictured above), said: “It’s A-level results day, which is an emotional time for many young people and one of the causes of stress is the financial pressures that come with higher education.
“We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to unlock their greatness regardless of their background or circumstances.
“These scholarships are about recognising the courage and determination of students who have faced real challenges and found the strength to keep pursuing their dreams.”
Sara Prowse, CEO of UA92, said: “The Unlock Your Greatness Scholarships represent UA92’s continued commitment to making higher education accessible to all students, particularly those who might not otherwise consider university an affordable option.
“Each scholarship will cover the complete cost of tuition fees for the duration of the recipient’s programme – three years for standard courses or two years for accelerated programmes.”
Rejecting the outdated reliance on end-of-year exams, UA92 focuses on continuous assessment through coursework, projects, reports and presentations, enabling students to demonstrate ability across a sustained body of work. Its innovative block learning model allows students to study one subject intensively for six weeks before moving on, while the unique half-day timetable – offers flexibility for part-time work and personal commitments.
UA92 is a higher education institution co-founded by Gary Neville, the ‘Class of ’92’ and Lancaster University. UA92 takes a deliberately different approach to higher education, placing supportive career-focused teaching at the centre of every degree.
