CAMRADATA Awards 2020 recognise excellence in asset management

CAMRADATA, a leading provider of data and analysis for institutional investors, hosted its CAMRADATA Awards for the sixth year running on 25th February 2020 at the Farmers and Fletchers in the City of London.

The CAMRADATA Awards are one of the most sought-after accolades in the asset management field, recognising the contribution these outstanding funds deliver on behalf of institutional investors.

45 awards were presented to the funds that topped various asset classes, including bonds, equities and multi-asset over the three-year period ending December 31, 2019.

The biggest winner who scooped four awards was Fidelity International, who won Emerging Markets Corporate Debt (USD); Emerging Markets Equity – Core (USD); European Inc. UK Equity and Global Gov/Corp Debt (USD) awards.

Other winners who scooped two and three awards were:

  • Royal London Asset Management – won the Global Multi-Asset (GBP); UK Corporate Debt (GBP) and UK Equity – All Cap (GBP) awards.
  • Nordea Asset Management – won the DGF +5% to 7% (GBP) and Global Multi-Asset (USD) awards.
  • TCW – won the US Equity – Emerging Markets Debt – Blend (USD) and Growth Large Cap (USD) awards.
  • Loomis Sayles – won the ABS/MBS (USD) and Global Equity – Core Large Cap (USD) awards.
  • MFS Investment Management – won the Emerging Markets Broad Bond – Local Currency (USD) and Global Equity – Growth Large Cap (USD) awards.

Risky pitch from Northumbria Marketing Students wins Seventh Greggs Challenge

Business students at Northumbria University have succeeded in winning this year’s Greggs Marketing Challenge thanks to a “naked bake” campaign.

The Greggs Challenge, now in it’s seventh year, is one of the region’s most prestigious marketing student competitions, with the team from Northumbria’s Newcastle Business School competing against other post-graduate students from Newcastle, Teesside, and Sunderland Universities.

This year’s challenge saw students invited to design a campaign entitled “Greggs by Night: Keeping the Brand Contemporary in the Evening”, with the goal of increasing Greggs business between the hours of 5pm and 9pm.

Team Northumbria students, Jordan Strachan, Harry Ash, Natalie Drinkwater, Emily Hardwick, Emily McKee and Jordan Seddon, came up with a “naked bake campaign”, spearheaded by the cheeky caption #getnaked. Based on their own extensive market and consumer research, the team recommended removing pastry from favourites such as steak bakes, and instead serving them in a box with a healthy choice of rice, beans or salad. They were able to demonstrate to the judges that this offering was more substantial, more evening marketing friendly and would appeal to more health-conscious customers.

Natalie Drinkwater explained:

“We opened our pitch to the judges by saying Greggs should get naked. It was quite a risk, but I think because were able to deliver a presentation based on our research and as a focused and unified team with a clear message, it worked.

“We didn’t reinvent the wheel; we took something traditional to Greggs but offered a healthy alternative – the company’s biggest growing area – and created a product that was more suitable for the Evening Market. We utilised Greggs’ current channels and digital strategy and applied them to be evening market appropriate. Some of the feedback from the Judges was that it was so cost effective by keeping it simple, incorporating current strategies and not trying to implement massive changes.”

Each student team in the Greggs Marketing Challenge had to deliver a 15-minute presentation in front of the judging panel, which included senior directors. There were also around 170 guests in attendance. Announcing the award, the judging panel identified Team Northumbria as the unanimous victors, hailing their customer insights, campaign ideas, execution and professionalism.

Winners of 2020 HSJ Partnership Awards revealed

The 14 high-calibre winners of the 2020 HSJ Partnership Awards were announced during an awards ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster last week.

The HSJ Partnership Awards – now in their 3rd year – are independently judged by experts from across the healthcare sector, looking specifically for organisations from the private and charitable sectors that clearly strive to improve collaboration and innovation within the NHS.

A great variety of different sectors and industries from all over the country were represented throughout the evening. The diversity on display – both in terms of the projects undertaken and the teamwork showcased – demonstrated a growing dedication to work efficiently and effectively with the NHS.

The awards ceremony was hosted by the lively and engaging Ellie Taylor who led the evening with the passion and respect that the finalists and winners rightly deserved.

Of the 14 winners, Best Pharmaceutical Partnership with the NHS was awarded to Kite Pharma, a Gilead Company, NHS England and NHS Partners for its work on an innovative treatment that has offered the hope of disease-free years to people suffering from lymphoma.

The judges saw this as transformational treatment which couldn’t have been done by the NHS alone. It demonstrated a passionate and ambitious approach to transformational medicine.

Further winners from the evening were:

  • The Perinatal Institute was awarded Best Not For Profit Working in Partnership with the NHS for the low-cost – 50p per birth – of their work on the Growth Assessment Protocol (GAP). GAP was able to demonstrate that most unexplained stillbirths were associated with growth restriction. For its work, judges praised the institute for the excellent nation-wide reach of the initiative and for the team’s consistent commitment to low costs whilst putting saving lives first.
  • Most Effective Contribution to Clinical Redesign was won by Lloyds Pharmacy Clinical Homecare which has redesigned how patients receive oncology drugs by moving many routine treatments to a centre run by Lloyds Pharmacy. This helped Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust to improve services allowing them to cope with the increasing demand for outpatient appointments. Judges praised the project for making a really good use of data and clearly articulating benefits for patients and for the NHS provider, highlighting the elevated level of patient engagement and improved patient experience.

Clearvision celebrate second consecutive win on The Sunday Times 100 Best list, plus 3-stars from b-Heard

Clearvision, the largest Atlassian Platinum Solution Partner in Europe, has secured its position on The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For list for a second consecutive year, picking up a 3-star status from the b-Heard survey along the way.
Every year, The Sunday Times publishes a list of best companies to work for in a range of categories from ‘best big’ to ‘best not-for-profit’, and ‘best companies’ to ‘best small’. Organisations enter themselves to compete for a place on the prestigious list, and are sent a link to the b-Heard survey which is completed by employees; results are then checked against the Best Companies Index (BCI) score.

The survey which measures ‘8 factors of workplace engagement’ through a series of 70 academically designed questions, is completed anonymously by employees to ensure accurate results.
In 2019, Clearvision entered for the first time, achieving a 2-star status from workplace engagement analysts b-Heard, whose scale starts at ‘Ones to Watch’ and goes all the way through to the maximum ‘3 Star’ accreditation.

For Clearvision to achieve 3 Stars — denoting the highest standard of workplace engagement, only awarded to organisations with a BCI score of 738 or higher, is a massive achievement reflecting extraordinary levels of workplace engagement.

The changes mentioned by Gerry, involved in-house experts developing software to better understand how teams operate, and how different personalities complement each other. Getting team dynamics right leads to happier, more focused employees, and as Gerry put it: “People are a critical element to our business, so it is important that we continue to invest in them.”

Alongside these efforts, a group called Hearts and Minds was formed, which focuses on employee wellbeing. As part of this, employees went off-site, volunteering their time at the Blue Cross and Samaritans. Other members of staff participated in charitable events on an individual basis, receiving sponsorship from colleagues. Visionaries enjoyed expert speakers addressing a number of topics during mental health awareness week, as well as guided meditation sessions from a qualified yogi.

Nominations open for 2020 Black British Business Awards

Businesses and the public UK wide are being encouraged to nominate exceptional talent for the 2020 Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards) and showcase the significant economic contributions black British professionals make in creative, corporate and tech-based industries.

Bedfont has been named as a finalist in 2 categories for the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Awards

An annual event, the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Awards brings the business community together to celebrate the achievements of local businesses and individuals. This year Bedfont are proud to have been named as finalists for Exporter of the Year and Innovative Business of the Year.

Countdown to the HSJ Partnership Awards 2020

The much awaited HSJ Partnership Awards Ceremony is coming back to London this February to showcase and celebrate the most effective partnerships within the private sector and the NHS.

Now in its third year, the HSJ Partnership Awards boast a shortlist that includes an impressive inventory of organisations from the private sector to trusts and charities. Each of those nominated has demonstrated the real and positive value that collaborative projects can have on healthcare organisations and their patients.

The esteemed panel of judges, are drawn from across the NHS and other organisations and come from a range of backgrounds, including both clinicians and managers. Their pooled expertise is invaluable in assessing the entrants and deciding on the eventual winners. The rigorous judging process looked for partnerships which were effective and delivered real improvement for the NHS – whether through better value for money or improved services, or both.

Following the shortlist announcement, the excitement has been building amongst all the finalists for the “big reveal” of the final 14 category winners at the awards ceremony on Thursday, 27th February at the Park Plaza Westminster in London. The awards evening is expected to be attended by leaders and professionals from across the healthcare sector as well as figures from non-clinical backgrounds to celebrate the achievements of their industry peers.

The chosen charity partner of the HSJ Partnership Awards this year is MediCinema who bring cinematherapy to hospital patients and their families, giving them a sense of normality at a difficult time. They build, equip, install and run state of the art cinemas in hospitals across the UK, giving patients the same experience, they would get in any other cinema. Thanks to the support of the film industry they show the latest blockbusters, meaning patients don’t have to miss out just because they’re in hospital.

Victory for Pygott & Crone at Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards

Estate agent Pygott & Crone had a stellar evening at the Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards last week taking home multiple awards, including Agent of the Year.

The fourth annual black-tie event welcomed more than 350 guests at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Lincoln last Thursday (6 February), celebrating the success of key players and developments in the construction and property industry.

Lincolnshire-based Pygott & Crone was crowned Agent of the Year for the second time at the coveted awards, for successfully making a positive impact on the region’s property landscape. Following this success, director Tim Downing took home a special edition accolade for this year – ‘The Greater Lincolnshire Ambassador Award’ which recognises individuals in the industry who go above and beyond the core of their day job.

Headquartered in Sleaford, Lincoln, with offices across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and London, Pygott & Crone employs 120 people and provides estate agent services for clients in the public and private sectors, providing a high level of customer service.

It has been a successful past year for Pygott and Crone, with solid growth in all areas of the business, including the employment of 12 new team members and successful property sales in excess of £250million across the UK.

Notable residential and commercial property developments sold in the Lincolnshire region include One The Brayford – all 100 luxury apartments have been sold, The Parklands in Sudbrooke – a new village of over 160 houses, Handley Chase in Sleaford – a new development of over 400 houses and Leafbridge in North Hykeham – a premier new East Midlands business park with the first three phases now sold out.

Lufthansa Group and NTT DATA Win International Project of the Year at London GSA Awards

NTT DATA Services, a recognised leader in global technology services, today announced that it was awarded a prestigious Global Sourcing Association (GSA) award for the delivery of cloud transformation services at Lufthansa Group.

Lufthansa Group made the strategic decision to migrate Microsoft services to Microsoft Office 365 (O365) and engaged NTT DATA as a single strategic partner to effectively drive this transformation to O365, delivering the migration of the exchange mail users to Exchange Online. The Lufthansa Group includes more than 400 subsidiaries with a complex infrastructure through a mix of integrated and standalone environments. They needed an experienced IT service provider capable of validating the tenant configuration, defining the migration approach and efficiently managing the migration of over 93,000 mailboxes. With a local onsite consultancy in Frankfurt supported by its migration practice in Romania, NTT DATA has migrated over 45,000 mailboxes to O365 in six months.

The main objective was to migrate the Lufthansa, Swiss Airlines and Austrian Airlines mailboxes to O365, looking to achieve increased staff productivity through email access via the Cloud, improved service uptime and reduce infrastructure costs through significant decommissioning of the legacy Exchange On-Premise estate.

Steve Beyermann, Vice President, Lufthansa Group, Digital Workplace Services said:

The success of the Lufthansa Group project is testament to this approach.
