Bristol-based healthcare agency, Create Health, celebrates new strategy director and finance lead

Strategic and creative healthcare agency, Create Health, whose creative work includes global and national campaigns for big healthcare brands such as Thermo Fisher Scientific, ConvaTec, BD and HOYA, has added two new staff members to its growing team. Polly Buckland joins as Strategy Director and Ollie Davies joins as Finance Manager.

Polly Buckland brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked across a wide range of sectors and clients. Previous roles include strategic partner at LIDA/M&C Saatchi.

Buckland comments, “I joined Create because I think the world of Healthcare is fascinating and at a real turning point right now. The way we think about and manage our health is radically changing, and along with that comes changes in the ways we interact with and connect with healthcare professionals. So the need for more creative and innovative solutions to support and engage healthcare professionals and support and guide patients and consumers has never been greater.”

Ollie Davies joins the Create Health team after contracting for various creative companies over the past couple of years throughout Bristol, including the recently acquired McCann Synergy (formerly Synergy Creative). Prior to this he spent a year living in NZ, spending time working as a management accountant for Special Group (Campaign Creative Agency of the year, 2020). In the years leading up to his travels, he worked as assistant FC for a music management and events company, alongside co-running 2 successful club nights over a 7 year period.

Davies added, “I am excited to be part of the Create family; to be involved in a creative healthcare agency producing projects and campaigns that I can be passionate about, knowing that they’re making a difference to people’s lives.”

Ed Hudson, managing director, commented: “We are very pleased to be in a position to grow the team at Create Health. Ollie and Polly both demonstrate a true passion for healthcare communication as well as a solid understanding of this pivotal time within our industry.”

These appointments represent success for Create Health as its expansion plan continues following the management buy-out in March.

Bristol karting venue receives consumer safety standard

Absolutely Karting in Bristol has been awarded the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good to Go’ hospitality and tourism standard, which gives reassurance to customers that the venue adheres to the Government and public health Covid-19 guidance.

To receive the standard, Absolutely Karting had to show it is minimising risk by implementing clear safety processes to maintain cleanliness and aid social-distancing, as well as ensuring all members of its team are briefed on policies and procedures.

At the indoor karting venue these procedures include following a one-way system, wearing a face covering in the centre and making regular use of the hand-sanitising stations. The team has also increased the frequency of cleaning and all suits and helmets are UV sanitised between use.

Naomi Smith, Centre Manager at Absolutely Karting, commented:

“Since reopening in August, it’s been wonderful to welcome customers through the door again and to see people enjoy karting. We’ve worked extremely hard to ensure we are a safe environment for all visitors and the ‘We’re Good to Go’ standard is recognition of that.

“As part of the standard we will receive spot checks, so we are continually reviewing our procedures to see if there is even more we can do. As such, we’ve recently introduced ‘Social Bubble’ parties which give up to six people exclusive use of the track so they don’t have to mix with those outside of their social group.”

Cardiff Bus is one of the largest providers of public transport services for the city of Cardiff and the surrounding areas. On an average weekday, the service carries around 85,000 users. While this number was dramatically reduced at the start of the year, the company is beginning to see passengers increase once again as the nation eases out of lockdown.

Mrs Buckét has been deployed by the bus giant to implement its high-quality cleaning services within their office premises, ensuring a continuously safe and COVID-secure working environment for all Cardiff Bus employees, now and for the long-term future.

Rachael Flanagan, CEO of Mrs Buckét, commented: “As the country begins to re-open, slowly but surely, we are witnessing a return to some sort of normal. Putting stringent measures in place to keep Cardiff Bus’ staff and customers safe and well is of top priority.”

Mrs Buckét’s role will include regular touch point sanitation and deep cleaning for the company’s headquarters, office accommodation and driver welfare areas.

As front-line workers, they have continued to work right through the pandemic ensuring we have maintained an essential services across our network over this turbulent period. Mrs Buckét strengthens senior team as it welcomes Talent and Retention Manager

Mrs Buckét, the specialist cleaning operation in Wales and the South West, has appointed Claire Storer to its senior team.

After nearly two decades in sales and recruitment across London and the Middle East, Storer wanted to look for a new challenge away from the numbers-focused culture, instead pivoting to a much more person-centric role.

Storer’s new role with Mrs Buckét revolves around HR, recruitment and retention. After four new accounts won solely over the past three months, an impressive growth of 20 per cent, Storer joins at a time of fast-paced expansion for the cleaning specialist. She is responsible for continuing to attract the best calibre of talent via an engaging and interactive candidate recruitment journey, and effective employer branding.

Not only will Storer be crucial to the company’s recruitment efforts, she will also drive Mrs Buckét’s internal company culture and wellbeing programme through employee journey strategies and internal community engagement.

Storer commented: “I have always been a people person, but the world of recruitment and finance doesn’t always allow you to be that way. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a company whose ethos and values match my own and somewhere that I can create tangible value for culture, recruitment and internal wellbeing.”

Mrs Buckét CEO, Rachael Flanagan, added: “Claire’s role will be instrumental in our plans to be seen as an employer and service provider of choice across Wales and the South West, especially as we begin to exit lockdown and high-quality cleaning services are needed, now more than ever.”

Limewedge launches – new affordable cocktail delivery service

This week sees the launch of Limewedge, a new nationwide cocktail delivery service operating out of Bristol. Founded during lockdown, the business offers one-off cocktail boxes for four or six drinks, or three, six- and 12-month subscriptions for six drinks with just the right ingredients in each sustainable, fully recyclable box. Cocktails start from just £4.67 each depending on subscription length.

Behind Limewedge is founder Chris Mead (aka Chief Lime, below) who discovered his love of cocktail-making as a bartender in Bristol and Leicester. A qualified accountant and most recently working as a finance manager, he left his position before lockdown and, faced with a tough job market, decided to change direction and pursue his lifelong passion for creating and sharing craft cocktails.

“I’ve always loved making someone’s day by introducing them to a new cocktail or flavour combination. Lockdown has meant we’ve taken that experience into our own houses and shared drinks with friends and family over Skype. Experimenting is brilliant, but buying big bottles of spirits is expensive and is also a gamble. Limewedge is designed to be an affordable way to try new combinations without having to invest in big bottles of spirits that gather dust. I want each box to be an event, not just a beverage.” Comments Mead.

Limewedge cocktail box starting themes include Boozy Brunch, Desert Island Drinks, Dinner Party and Red Light, with cocktails including the Grand Mimosa, Pina Colada and P*star Martini. Prices range from £27.98 including shipping for a one-off, four cocktail box, to £27.99 per box for a 12-month subscription with six cocktails in each box. All packaging is eco-friendly and recipe cards are emailed, avoiding wasteful pre-printing. Everything is included apart from store cupboard essentials, such as milk or sugar.

As an ex-stand-up comedian, Mead has ensured a tongue-in-cheek tone runs throughout the business, including the website and recipe cards. No stranger to facing a crowd, Mead also shares his passion and shows tips and tricks for cocktail making – including how you can use Tuppaware as a shaker, whether you shake or stir a Martini and how to flame a lemon rind – over Instagram on lime.wedge .

“With many workers still at home and people embracing virtual socialising; we’re also offering bespoke cocktail boxes for all virtual events, such as company virtual summer parties, birthdays, Hen and Stag parties and good old-fashioned catch-ups. There’s a lot of scope and I’m so excited to share some of my favourite recipes with even more people, and I hope they’ll share their reactions with me.”

All boxes can be ordered through the website – lime-wedge.co.uk – and one-off boxes will arrive within three to five days.
