Dudley’s Aluminium celebrates completion of innovative Milton Park project

WELSH fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium is celebrating the completion of its latest innovative project.

In December 2023, the firm announced it would be returning to Milton Park in Oxfordshire to work with Barnwood Limited on the Nebula scheme.

Nebula is a new development of seven properties across three buildings, providing high tech research and development workspace with offices.

The office areas are of a Cat A standard, with raised access floors, an open ceiling and LED lighting together with heating and cooling provided by fan coil units with fresh air ventilation.

The scheme was built to meet BREEAM ‘Excellent’ sustainability standards and targeted an A-rating Energy Performance Certificate. To meet the standards, the buildings have sustainably sourced glue-laminated timber and vaulted ceilings to accommodate large-scale laboratory and high-tech engineering equipment.

The fabricator installed Metal Technology System solutions including System 17 curtain walling, 4-35Hi windows and 10-35 Hi doors on the build.

Colin Shorney, Managing Director at Dudley’s Aluminium, said: “We are delighted with the finished result of this project. It has been wonderful to work with Barnwood Limited in our return to Oxfordshire. The benefits and potential of the Nebula scheme are endless, with flexible working spaces and providing a platform for engineering, life sciences and technology businesses to grow in a sustainable environment.”

The Nebula project marked Dudley’s Aluminium’s return to Milton Park, having previously worked on the MEPC building at the science and technology park in Oxfordshire which is home to around 250 businesses.

Since 1993, Dudley’s Aluminium has offered clients full in-house design and production facilities, completing many successful and prestigious projects within the education, health, commercial, retail, residential and defence sectors throughout the UK and Channel Islands.

Dudley’s reputation for quality has been recognised with several industry-related accreditations. The company is CHAS accredited, Constructionline registered, and BM Trada certified to manufacture enhanced security products to align with PAS24:2016 and BS 4873.

Integrated council services at the heart of fabricator’s latest project

CARDIFF-based fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium is supporting the construction of Cornwall Council’s new services hub in Liskeard in the south-east of the county.

The integrated services hub is the latest development on the former cattle market site in the town centre and will provide accommodation for a range of services including adult education, family hub, registrars and the Department for Work and Pensions, in addition to office space and meeting facilities.

The new hub will allow the community to access multiple services from one location, while also providing the council with the opportunity to reduce its carbon footprint.

Dudley’s Aluminium will be working with Morgan Sindall Construction on the project, installing Metal Technology System doors, windows and capped curtain walling on the build.

The fabricator has previously worked on other Cornwall Council projects such as the redevelopment of the council’s offices in Bodmin.

Steve Muir, Commercial Director at Dudley’s Aluminium, said: “We are delighted to return to Cornwall to work on this brilliant project in partnership with Morgan Sindall Construction. The new hub will create a single, central space for the community to access multiple vital services and continue to meet the needs of the community for years to come.”

Funded by Pembrokeshire County Council and the Welsh Government through its ‘Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme’, the redevelopment of the school includes replacing the current lower school building, refurbishing the sixth form centre and the creation of a new children’s residential centre.

The new and updated facilities will feature specialist therapy rooms, breakout and sensory spaces and dedicated outdoor areas to meet the needs of the school’s students.

Dudley’s Aluminium has teamed up with Morgan Sindall Construction on this project and will install Kawneer doors, windows and capped curtain walling on the build.

Secondary school project secured by Welsh fabricator

CARDIFF-based fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium has secured another project in the education sector, supporting the construction of a new secondary school in Oxfordshire.

Dudley’s Aluminium will be working with Bouygues UK on St John’s Academy in Wantage. The school is part of the Vale Academy Trust and will be built alongside the already completed primary school, creating the first ‘all through’ school for students from nursery age to year 11 in the local area.

Sustainability will be a key feature of the new school, with the construction including low carbon materials, a green roof with photovoltaic panels and playing fields which use sustainable draining systems.

Dudley’s will be installing Metal Technology System doors, windows and capped curtain walling on the build.

Steve Muir, Commercial Director at Dudley’s Aluminium, said: “Education is one of the key sectors we work in and it’s a joy to be able to work with the team at Bouygues UK on this particular project.
