Print business secures major schools contract following closure of ‘local institution’

A PRINTING business is top of the class after taking on a major new contract.

PersonaliseMe Print Ltd – which relocated to larger premises on Erw Wen Road in Colwyn Bay during the summer – will now supply uniform for more than 20 schools in Conwy county.

The business secured the deal following the announcement that much-loved retail outlet Boppers is to close for the final time later this month, having traded for more than 47 years.

Boppers’ Joan Rossington made the decision with “a heavy heart” but is proud of her legacy and confident the schools are in safe hands with PersonaliseMe Print owner Carly Brands.

Joan, who bought the company from the Lewis family in 1999, said: “It has been the most amazing 25 years for me here in Colwyn Bay, but the time is right to retire.

“I have seen the same faces come and go, different generations of families, and watched their children grow up to become parents themselves – it has been a privilege.”

She added: “I look forward to spending more time with my family, especially my young grandchildren, and seeing what the future brings.

“I am so thankful to our loyal customers for their decades of support, it was a difficult decision to walk away from Boppers but knowing Carly and her team are taking on a large portion of the schools we supply, and that it will remain local, has given me peace of mind. I know they will do a brilliant job and wish them well.”

Employing four staff in the coastal resort, PersonaliseMe Print supply embroidered and printed workwear, teamwear, and a range of promotional merchandise.

“Being local to Colwyn Bay, I know what an important role Boppers has played in the lives of thousands of people in this area, it’s an institution and we are committed to continuing the Boppers legacy,” said Carly.

“This has come along at the right time and allows us to diversify and keep growing, so it’s a really interesting and exciting move.

“We wish Joan well for the future, she has been a mainstay in the town and done so much for the area – we will all miss her very much.”

This news comes as TALL is recruiting three new positions in Runcorn – one press operator and two apprentices.

Debbie Dowler, Quality & Compliance Director, commented: “Our people are amongst the best in the industry and we are extremely proud of each and every one of them.  The IIP accreditation demonstrates our continued commitment to invest in our people and make the TALL Group a place where they can thrive and enjoy coming to work.

Phil Burnell to retire after 26 years Dedicated Service

Loyal and hardworking employee from Runcorn, Phil Burnell is sadly retiring from his role of Estimator / Paper Buyer at TALL Security Print, part of the TALL group of companies, after 26 years of dedicated service.

Phil joined TALL Security Print in 1995.  He was initially employed as a Litho-Printer before successfully applying for the position of Print Buyer and Estimator.  In addition, he later took on the role of Paper Buyer.  Phil trained as a Litho-Printer after leaving school and has spent his career working within the printing industry.

Phil comments: “It’s been a really big decision to retire from TALL Security Print.  I’ve been part of the team for such a long time and it has been hugely satisfying meeting the specific demands that arise within the export business. The tight delivery schedules required for producing ballot papers can be daunting but the team at TALL have always risen to the challenge.  I’ll miss the camaraderie and teamwork and wish them all lots of luck.”

In his retirement Phil will enjoy playing squash and snooker, watching sport (mostly his beloved Liverpool Football Club) and reading a good book.

Brian Carney, Commercial Director, at TALL Security Print said, “It is always difficult when someone leaves who has been part of the fabric of the company for so long. The support and friendship that Phil gave to all in the company will be sadly missed.”

Martin Ruda, Group Managing Director of the TALL Group of Companies, said, “Phil is a well-respected and valued member of the team at TALL Security Print and will be very much missed by colleagues here in Runcorn and across the business. His work ethic and ability to meet deadlines under pressure ensured that we consistently surpassed our customers’ expectations.  We wish him a long and happy retirement.”
